Default Are my Kooks headers supposed to rust like this?

These are maybe 4 months old, have 3600 miles on them. They are Kooks 1 7/8" headers. i also have the Kooks X pipe, and all stainless exhaust but only the headers are rusting. Is this normal?

Yes i know i have a broken valve spring lol.

I have the exact same ones on my z06 and they aren't rusted. I've had them on for about 8k w/o problems. The car is garaged and seen rain only once with the headers, maybe thats why?

My isnt kept in the garage but i have only driven it in the rain once or twice. They had begun rusting before i ever drove it in the rain though.

Anything STAINLESS should NOT RUST.....unless its surface...then steel wool will work....something is not right there though, they look really rusty in that pic....

Have you contacted Kooks to let them know what has happened? Maybe they will do right by you since you only have a few miles on the headers. You should contact Nick.

Yeah i tried to call them today but they were closed. I was just going through pictures of the broken valve springs i sent to ET Performance and happened to notice the headers. I never really paid attention to them until it occured to me i paid $1400 for them NOT to rust. Here is another pic i just took. I know it's huge but i figured the extra detail might help determine a cause based on the crystaline oxidation pattern (sound BA right?).

From the look of the bolts, it looks like long term salt water exposure

Well i live atleast 40 miles west of the Ocean so i dont think its from salt water. I'm not to pleased with the headers to be honest. I would haev gone with coated headers if i had though this is what the kooks would look like after 4 months.

Never been on salted roads, we've only gotten a couple inches of snow this year anyway. Started rusting in the summer i noticed, but never thought anything of it.

Not ALL kooks headers are stainless... they do offer mild steel headers. Maybe you got slipped some mild steel headers by mistake?

Is there anyway to tell if they are stainless or mild steel? My mechanic bought and installed these but i KNOW i paid for stainless steel.
