i think that fluid thing is true though, because they kept telling me to make sure no fluid is comingo ut of the trans when i sent it back or the shipping company would have held it.

Im asking for my green....its a click of a botton...plain and simple.
i'm not saying dont bitch about it, i'm just seeing certain people hold this agianst rock-on like they are the only ones who ever had a problem. what i meant was that alot of sponsors on here go through the same issue whether it be out of pure ignorance or problems out of their control, and since history has repeated time and time again on this board, [not just] you will bitch, problems will either get fixed or not, and we'll all live happily ever after as usual...

the only real problem i have is that this **** gets old and sponsors need to be more prepared to fill alot of orders when they get to this site, or to inform the customer of the huge waiting list that actually exists and not just say it'll take a month...

Hrm... I know everyone here hates the guys jumping on the "bandwagon" but time to share my story as well, maybe I can save someone.

So.. (again this has been so ******* long I don't remember exact dates without pulling up old bills.) I hear great things about rock on, and decide to use them. This was roughly september when I called and ordered the transmission, paid in full. I made sure to make it clear that I am military, and deploying to Iraq in december and needed the car running so I could move it by december 18th to storage. Dave personally said "not a problem AT ALL." Granted, Dave was always very courteous on the phone. Well.. I goto CAX November 10th (Anyone in the Marines is familiar with this, a month-long training operation in the desert of 29 Palms). I was gone until Dec 10th. I get back and a local shop had my car and was receiving the tranmission from Dave. It took almost 2 months to get the transmission in the first place. I *FINALLY* get it (I got my fuddle converter in about 1.5 weeks.) and they put it in that night, stayed late and I helped them. The car starts, we go to drive it. Doesn't work. The next day take it to a local So-Cal performance tranny shop (Toy Shop in Pomona) who takes it apart and said the transmission was built like crap and completely garbage. Half the parts he said we're junk. (Whether before or after being put on the car I don't know). I contact Dave about it, and he seems to want to help. Knowing by now his crappy *** return times I am stuck. So I fork out and get a very very nice deal for a completely new transmission from Toy Shop, which of course, works great on the first try, and lasts 2,200 mile drive non-stop to illinois, with some 160mph bursts (including the one I got cited for, haha). I contact Dave about the transmission, but I run out of time seeing I have to deploy and I won't have phone/internet. So I left it up to my family. They were willing to help, and sent the transmission back to Dave. I had tried to back-charge the credit card because I paid 2,000$ for ******* junk and saw no way of getting it fixed. I couldn't do that, because of his "warranty policy"--So BUYER BEWARE OF THAT. Although I cancelled that credit card too (Citi bank) because for a huge *** limit, they sure don't back their customers up. So he has the transmission the WHOLE 8 months I am in Iraq. With family contacting him multiple times a week. He then REFUSES to fix it because "it is missing some parts." Well, no **** ******* the transmission was probably missing them when I got it. It was ******* garbage. I figured a warranty should cover the parts anyways. I guess I was wrong. Well they finally just ask for the shitty "core" transmission back so we atleast have SOMETHING. That again, took forever. Only when presented with the threat of going to court over the ordeal because my family had detailed logs of every contact attempt. The bitch that answers their phone needs to get slapped with some manners too. I guess once you give your money to them you don't rate ****.(not even a working transmission). Finally, we get the core back about 2 weeks before I get back to the states (at our cost, of course, another 200$ freight charge. The freighter also informs us that he rejected the first way they "packed it" because it was just thrown on a crate. He made them strap it down properly). Now I will have to get it built by a local shop in illinois that has built my tranny and it works GREAT. So i can sell it and HOPEFULLY dent the ******* bills I made from this.

Maybe Rock On used to be good, but, as far as I can see there is NO REASON to use them for anyone. It is a headache, nobody gets their **** on time, and I am still steamed over this whole situation. Not something I want to come back to. Dave might be a nice guy, whatever, but I didn't pay him 2000$ to be nice to me on the phone I got other numbers for that.

I would never recommend them to anyone, and have had multiple good transmission builders tell me after looking into the one I got from him that it was complete garbage.

-Eric (The Marine at pendleton you ripped off about a year ago but I'm not going away. I just got started.)

Does everyone having "2-3 shift issues" with Rock-On transmissions have the vacuum modulator conversion?

I thought Dave knew what he was doing...Atleast he talks about it pretty good. He's constantly interjecting his opinions on CZ.com, where he's NOT a supporting vendor, and I am.

Hmmmm.... If I build them "wrong" and he builds them "right", how come he has more problems?

+1 interesting how frank and my customers never have these problems. When you put Vacuum Modulators on these units your just begging for problems. Vacuum modulator =3/4 clutches go bye bye.

I bet they had load release springs too Bwahaha!!!!

I am moving this thread to the Sponsor Feedback section because it has no technical information. I will also let the site Admin know what is going on here.

carolina performance transmission
I know at least 1 very good transmission builder that uses vacuum modulators with great success. I think casting blame on vacuum modulators in general is a bit excessive.

Dave left a message at my house yesterday, sounded like he was going to fix things. So I'll call him back after the holiday weekend. But this is good news.

I got ahold of Dave today, and he thinks it may be a solenoid issue. So i'm gonna change that next week if possible, and we'll go from there.

UPDATE:

Replaced the solenoids in the tranny *per Dave's suggestion* and it did not fix the problem. This cost ME $264.80 I want to be reembersed for it. I will start calling (i say calling cuz i know they don't like answering the phones) tomorrow. My patience will run out on friday Oct. 27th. I hope Rock-On is reading this.

Dave Sr., I hope you are reading this. You told me you were sorry for "dropping me in the mud" for a while and promised to see this resolved. I'm here to collect on that.

Please post if you guys have gotten any resolution. Their customer service seems pretty erratic right now.
