Dyno numbers are in.. Ugh...
275.08hp/297.99tq Dynojet (Put down 277/298 first run but I don't have the sheet)
LS1 intake
1.8 rockers
Slight head work
CAI
3" Catted daownpipe
Magnaflow exhaust kit
Lew tuned
Now before you all start to freak out, the dyno is just a tool.
Stock I put down 238/275 and 256/275 after being tuned with just a welded on downpipe. I am now sitting at 275/298. Gained about 40hp/25tq over stock. Gained 21hp/22tq over my previous tuned dyno session. This is all peak numbers. Look at the graph and check out the tq!
I'm sure my bigger tires ()275's are costing a few ponies.
BLUE line is previous dyno run (HP tuned with Hogan weld-on DP)
RED line is todays run (Mods listed above)

Thats not too bad, its about where i would expect you too be. The thing with dynos are they are just a dick measuring stick. Put it on a track and see what it runs, than you know how amazing your car is Look at my car. Im not putting out that much power and i run 12s

nice!!! Look at Lew's tune GO with that red line...
nice AFR line too...
and your data log you sent me for that run was PERFECT too man! NOICE!!!

Your car has been a inspiration and I'm glade you finally made it to the track. I have my LS6 intake, custom cam with .600 lift and hopefully headers (STILL NO stinking... CAL yetL) to install. I won't trap 119 though.

dont' worry, limiter is set to 160...

Nice increase!! I'm hoping for similar numbers, but I need to slap some tires on mine before I re-dyno it (no way in hell I'm making a 3rd gear run with cords showing, lol).
David, do you have a track day planned???

-LS6 intake 5whp? (Don't anybody tell me 20hp. I have the LS1/LS6 performance book written by Chris Endres, with dyno pulls and flow numbers)
-Exhaust (catless) 3whp
-Headers 10whp
-Ice the living **** out of the intake manifold before the dyno pull to break 300 lol
The dyno operator was telling me how to gain about 10-15 more hp with some tips and tricks that the magazine guy's use to make big numbers.
Told him I wanted real world numbers so we dyno'd it as is.
I will definitely be hitting the track when it opens back up.
I think it's safe to say that the LS1 intake is worth a lot more tq then hp.

Let me break these mods down..
With just a welded-on DP to stock cat and exhaust/HP tuned. I put down
256.49hp
275.08/297.99 with
LS1 intake
1.8 rockers
Slight head work
CAI
3" Catted downpipe
Magnaflow exhaust kit
I am going to say that the CAI and exhaust kit is worth 5whp/3tq combined!
1.8 rockers 5whp/10tq
LS1 intake 10whp/10tq
Numbers seem low, but I am using the dyno that I was on and the seat of the pants.

Milan opens the first weekend in April, and I can't wait!
I'm glad you are taking the time and spending the money to document each step. I'm way too cheap to do that.

Looking at my power band and my peak. You will see that I pull up to about 6k max. Peak HP is at 5400.
I just want people to realize that they do not need to spend the extra 250-300 for the LS6 just to have it.
If one was to plan on caming, then yes.. spend the extra money.
If you qualified that statement by saying "with the stock cam" then I would agree whole-heartedly. If you look back through my older posts, you'll see that after I swapped the LS6 intake onto my car I kept lamenting running out of cam. You can feel and hear it being too small. Once you stick a bigger cam in there, you'd see the LS1/6 intakes pull away from the LS4 intake up top
I have a new cam ordered and the ported LS6 sitting in the box

I "qualified the statement" with the mods I have listed with a dyno sheet. The stock cam is small, but it does a pretty good job of pulling up to 5000-5500 with ease. I would personally like to have more gear then cam. 2.93's suck! 3.69's are the way to go IMHO. I'll use 3.29's.
You'll love 3.29s. 3.69s are a bit much for a daily driver for most people, but then I know guys that drive around with 4.11s. My long-gone lifted '77 F250 had 4.56s, and I could clutch it off the line in 4th gear (1:1, T18 Transmission). With bias-ply mud and snow tires and OD Green paint, it was certainly a fun daily driver until I had to drive for long hours on the highway.
I'm glad you are planning to dyno in between the intake and cam swap, because I'd like to see the effect that your Pat G. cam has independent of everything else. Did he use EPS lobes for your grind?

This is material from the LS1/LS6 performance book
Quoted from Chris Endres
LS6 intake
"Many people assume this manifold is worth an automatic 20 horsepower on any engine, but this is just not the case. The truth is that this manifold by itself is worth more like 7 or 8 rear-wheel horsepower and a similar gian in torque on a mostly stock engine."
The Myth of the restrictive LS1 Manifold-Immediatley upon its introduction in 1997, the
LS1 intake was labled very restrictive by countless self-proclaimed experts. This is more urban legend then fact, however, as extensive testing has shown that the LS1 manifold will comfortably support over 400 rear-wheel horespower. It has it's limitations of course, as the LS1's plenum volume becomes a limiting factor in high-rpm or large displacement applications
Plenum vol. Runner length Runner volume
LS1 5.05 liters 262mm .536 liters
LS6 5.19 liters 262mm .541 liters
Intake to head comprarision airflow in cfm using valve lift
Head LS6/LS1 intake
.200 .300 .350 .400 .450 .500 .550 .600
156 199 212 224 232 238 243 247
Head LS6/LS6 intake
.200 .300 .350 .400 .450 .500 .550 .600
154 204 220 235 247 257 263 265
In regards to the cfm values posted up above. It is my understanding that for each CFM gained (assuming close to 100% VE) the engine on a dyno will produce .5hp.

I'd share the specs but they cost me 25.00 to get.

David, you are being a true pioneer in the ls4 world. Good luck! I hope that other vendors and people are paying attention because we all want these things for our cars. There is a market for us, it is just a matter of time. Good luck sir!
