Yeah, it was more out of my curiosity than anything else. I'm pretty sure its right. Its not that I doubted the install, just curious.

I did the calculations for road speed vs rpm in different gears. It matched pretty close to what the speedo and tach say when driving around. The final drive ratio for the 4T65E would have made the rpms much lower than they were.

The 4T65E and 4t65E-HD are different sized? I thought the HD just had upgraded components.

We have the same Gear Ratios as the standard Grand Prixs, which don't have the HD so year I think the HD and regular have the same ratios, but we do have a different final drive axle ratio. Standard GP is 3.05, we're 2.93.

But yeah I thought the HD and regular were the same.

Umm..my trans is in the 215-23x temp area pretty often, I think I should worry. Under normal use around here it sits right around at 200. During 50 degree highway driving it was about 180, during uphill climb she reached 220. It seems when the tranny gets hot I start to get a "jutter" or vibration, seems to be worse when I'm going around curves. I'm only about to hit 30k miles too. Good thing I still have warranty.

Wow... All this talk is scaring the crap out of me. I was planning on auto crossing this spring, now I'm thinking that's not such a great idea. I have an 06 GXP with 63k. Just out of curiosity has anyone installed an external trans cooler?

I have 58,xxx on my '07 GXP. Every once in a while I feel a "hiccup" while driving as if the engine misfired. I haven't brought the car into the dealer for this issue, because it's not consistent. I have had front rotor issues at 40,xxx (same with my previous GP) and GY F-1 tire issues shortly there after getting them as replacements for the OEM Potenzas. The tranny temp, even after a little heavier than normal right foot persuasion, has never gone above 216. The tranny was just flushed as suggested at about 56,xxx miles--instead of 50,000. I've thought about adding a tranny and/or oil cooler...not sure who else has done this.

To the OP,

I highly doubt that 2 shift solenoids were shorted at the same time. Since the trans shop told you that these trans' are already pretty beefed up, that just shows they dont know what they are talking about as these trans' have room for upgrades. With your RPMS rising on the hwy, that either indicates to me a burned up TCC or a slipping forward band. Either way, glad you got it fixed. Since they saw debris, I hope the flushed your trans cooler when they replaced the trans? If they don't it voids most replacement trans warranties and its just plain stupid not to because coolers plug up easy with debris in the fluid.

Do you think using tap shifts makes the trans go out much earlier?

I just replaced the trans at about 42k and its only at 45k now and I'm already starting to feel the hiccup.. and I know I dont make the trans work very hard at all and leave the braking to my brakes not the down shift
