drag racing 07 impala ss?
with and without traction control on, all that happens is gear changing until you reach 3rd and finally start moving
I thought about getting some grippy tires but I feel that the problem is still going to be there
so what would be a solution? Could I have traction control off and have it in third gear or is that just a horrible idea that will kill my transmission
I suppose I mean if there is anyone here drag racing there ls4 fwd what kind of mods did you do to it. I need to fix my bastard child SS...my civic whoops it. serious
Best bet is to put the car in second, use the brakes to hold it in place and rev up to 2,500 rpms (give or take) and then let off the brake and launch it. As you launch don't floor the pedal right off the line, rather put it down in a controlled motion.
My advice is to practice your launches by reving up, letting off the brakes and slowly putting the pedal down. Practice this and work on putting the pedal down faster and faster each time. Sooner or later you'll get a feel for how quickly you can launch it without breaking the tires free. As you gain a feel for the car you'll learn to figure when your tires have hooked and you can go WOT.

FWD V8 and FWD 4cyl are 2 very different critters. If you can't drive it properly, sorry if I offend ya here, but it's true, a snail will smoke it. Practice with it, learn how to launch it, and that Civic will not touch it.
Even my V6 FWD wasn't easy to learn how to launch. the torque steer on it is nuts, and takes a lot of getting use to. That's another thing you need to be aware of. FWDs with power are bad about torque steer, and will really catch you off gaurd if you're not paying attention.
Be careful, have fun, n stay out the ditch
Also 198 pound feet of torque is nice, but stock we make 323 pound feet. There is a huge difference in launching when you're trying to shove that much down through the wheels.
