409 Stainless Steel which is what the Magnaflow kit is made of will have surface rust, but not rust through.

304 Stainless its the best for an exhaust system.

The GXP W-Body frame is the same as the Monte/Impala. There is nothing different on that frame from the others. Now there might be other things that make the car ride/handle different but the W-Body Frame is the same.

10-4 on that. I'm 3" all the way back, Hogan Catless DP, magnaflow single chambers, you better bet I set of car alarms. It was worse with the Super44s.

The pipes will still get surface rust.

Why would the Imp not be stainless? More cost cutting?

Ok, questions, first, are we ABSOLUTELY sure that the '05 GXP exhaust is stainless? second, what size resonator should I buy if I want to put a new one on? I'm thinking about a shotgun res from SLP but I don't think they make them in a size to bolt up to our cars stock exhaust. Thanks guys.

As far as a resonator, get whatever fits the pipe size and match the length to the volume you want (longer generally being quiter etc).

Resonators are welded in the stock exhaust on the 2.5" I pipe.

awesome, thanks nacho, I'm still not sure what I want to do with the resonator yet. I'm gonna get the mufflers installed and see how I like it first.

I just used a strait thru magnaflow muffler instead of a resonator. The 3” SLP loud mouth resonator I got was Just a 4” pipe necked down to 3 on the ends. When they say loud mouth they ant blowin smoke.

No the only way you would lose low end is with a 3' down pipe, and that is questionable.

I don't think anyone has done that, because most people buy the MF set-up more for mellow, reserved tones.

I have 3" all the way back, !Res with a set of these, ready to replace my Super44s:
