Rotors/Pads should be covered for the first year. But I'm not 100% sure on GM's warranty.

pads are not covered, as that's a normal wear item... rotors would be covered tho...

and wow, you guys must drive with one foot on the gas and the other foot on the brake, and HARD!!

I've got just over 70,000 miles on my Monte, and I'm still on my original pads from when I bought the car new in 2005!!! and they still have about another 8000 miles left on them!

daaaaamn!!

The GXP pads tend to get wear down faster because of the cross drilled rotors and i think we got softer brake pads. Do the SS dust the wheels bad?

You could do that job yourself for like 1/6th that price. theres a guy on here with a store with good pricing on drilled slotted rotors and ceramic pads. and if you dont know how to do it autozones site has exploded step by step directions on there or you could get a shop manual.

These are the people who originally made our braking system for the the GXP model, http://www.pbr.com.au/; http://www.pbrperformance.com.au/. Here's the story behind it, http://www.nymcgp.com/dave/GXP/faq/r...R%20brakes.pdf.

Do anyone have any experience with this manufacturer, http://www.ssbrakes.com/? They suppose to make Stainless Steel brake pads for the GXP's. You can order them from Jegs.

Check Rockauto.com . I just picked up new rotors and ceramic Raybestos pro series pads for under $225, shipped. And there is also a rebate.

Cool

I don't know what's type of pads are on my car, but I never get any brake fade, plus my car stops on a dime with just the weight of my foot on the pedal from any speed. These are the best brakes I've ever had on any car. I wish these brakes were on my Trans Am. They're great. Can these brakes get any better then this? I going to find out when I do change them. I wish I knew what type of pads are on them now. I have 14,000+ miles on the set I have now. I also get very little brake dust. They survived two State inspections. The Anti-Locking Brake System only engaged once since I've had the car. Now, only if I can get it to handle like my Crossfire. Hmmmm??

Rockauto total was about $210.00 shipped, plus there is a rebate now for $10.00. They look good. We'll see how long these last.

The brakes on this car are worthless. I had to have rotors resurfaced at 6000 miles, new rotors and brake pads at 13,000 miles (not covered under warranty $1200) and then just had to replace the left hub at 17,000 miles (again, not covered under warrenty $560). This was a lease car, I took care not to drive it hard and for having it for 39 months, turned it in with just over 17,000 miles on it. I will never buy another GM product. The dealer would not even answer my questions or help me with understanding why brakes would go so early for a car.

I have had my car one year, this month and it only has 16,000 miles.

I just ordered new rotors and ceramic pads for the car. I will take pics and post them next week when the parts come in.

And now my question to you is, has anyone else had this issue?

so at 23000 miles i am now have to replace my rotors and pads. This is like my 5 set of pads and i have already replaced my rotors once with r1 rotors. I just called r1 and they are sending me another set of rotors, a set of hawk hps pads and they are going to cryogenicly freeze the rotors so they last longer and are stronger. All that for 390$.

dude something isnt making sense here i think something is wrong with your brake system. not the pads or the rotors where do u drive and how are u driving for that kinda wear u gotta be being do something way wrong.. take it to the dealer explain how many rotors and pads u went through have ur whole setup thoroughly inspected.

Not sure what R1 concepts rotors you got, but the ones they sell for the 5th gen montes are cheap junk (they're the regular drilled/slotted ones)- a ton of people that have them have had problems with cracks around the drilled holes.

I have 27k on my car and I don't have any problems with my brakes. They stop on the dime for me and they seem to be lasting. Don't ask me what's on them. I guess they're the original PBR brakes from the manufacturer. Keep me posted, please.
