No, the GXP has the slotted brakes with painted red calipers. The imp and, i guess the monte carlo have generic looking disc brakes.

GXP has dual piston PBR calipers, cross drilled rotors, and different rotor size too

GXP Rotor Diameter:
Front: 12.7"
Rear: 12.0"

Impala SS Rotor Diameter:
Front: 11.9"
Rear: 10.0"

Emerson's right, All Ive heard so far is how the GXP brakes don't last. Look (search) there are several threads about premature brake wear for the GXP, but they look good! Personally when its time for breaks for my Monte I will get some drilled & slotted rotors myself, just to give me that look the GXP's have, and I'll prolly paint the calipers too.

Well the numbers don't lie. Read the articles though, some neat insight and differences between the two that I didn't know before. i.e. The impala SS has a shorter final drive than the gxp.

The Impalas and montes (SS) do not have generic brakes:

Here is the quote from, GM Performance Parts catalog 2008 page, 369

K. 12498644
High-Performance Front Brake Upgrade Kit
• Attain increased braking performance with 12" vented
disc rotors and high-performance brake pads
• Includes rotors, caliper mounting brackets, pads
and bushings
Monte Carlo and Impala models already have this
system installed as standard production. Will not
fit stock Grand Prix “crosslace” wheels and spare
tire may not fit. Heat generated by performance
brake pads can cause rotor warping if not allowed
to cool sufficiently between severe uses.
L. 12498646
Heavy-Duty Front Brake Caliper Brackets
• Same brackets used in brake kit P/N 12498644
(see above)
• Includes brackets, bushings and pins
• Rotors equivalent to P/N 12498647 must be used

GXP and Impala SS have the exact same 2.93 final drive ratio if I am not mistaken. Car and Driver mistakenly printed an article in which they stated the Impala SS had a 3.29 final drive ratio.

That confussed me they say its a 13" kit, but the picture they shows says thery are the same 12.7" rotors that we have on the GXP so this may not be a upgrade for us GXP guys. I want 4 piston Calipers I have some brembo's on my audi be cool to swap them onto my GXP.

This seems to be an ongoing point of confusion. The differential ratio is 3.29. but due to the ratio of the chain sprockets, the "overall final drive ratio" is 2.93.

This roughly 1.12 "overdrive" at the sprocket means that the transmission input shaft actually turns faster than the engine when the torque converter is locked. I suppose the benefit is that the transmission doesn't actually see full engine torque.
