matters what all you want to change and what year your car is. if you have a 05-06 vehicle it will be 3 bolt cam already. head/cam bolt/gasket kits will be needed depending on if you change the lifters or not. read through the applicable threads a few times.

Ya i have an 08 GXP SO i have the single bolt cam gear. Do we have to replace the lifters. IM assuiming that might depend on the cam. Hotter the cam more we would want/need different lifters

I wouldn't go to too hot of a cam, with our long *** gears it might end up hurting the powerband.

that sounds accurate, but nobody that ive seen on here has really pumped up the engine displacement past 5.3l. too bad that it would cost so much to make it happen.

we cammed our 07 gxp w/ the ls1 hot cam. the car lost a good amount of low end power, but gained it all back, and then some up top. we'll be putting 3.29 gears this weekend i believe.

if you change the lifters, you'll need ls2 style lifter trays too

Why would you need to change lifters?

I can see pushrods, springs, retainers, tune, etc...

If u change lifters you disable DOD. As they are a major part of the system. From what i have herd the factory lifters have there limits as far as lift goes. Plus When running in DODmode on aka V4 car would run rough.. possibly enough to cause damage(just a possiblity) But that would be with a serious cam.
Also i was thinking we could just swap in a L76 6.0L block as it has the provisions for DOD. Buy a block swap all the rest of the parts over LOL>

Honestly, if you are talking about high HP, I wouldn't worry about DOD.

That is true. Kinda wanna see how much power i can push with DOD still active. Probally just go with Different ration roller rockers for now. but still a good thread.

What don't you like about their kit?? The biggest draw backs are the use of the standard exhaust manifolds.

All the LS4 cars come with 3.29 final drive already. The chain drive drops that down to the 2.93 effective ratio. Might want to hold off replacing one gear set with an identical one...
