Default Running super rich!!!!

Ok guys, I found out why K&N doesn't recommend putting an intake on '05s. The only thing different between the models is the PCM and for a good reason. A few days now after I put my fenderwell cold air intake on my computer has reprogrammed itself. It's sensed the colder intake temps and increased flow and it's dumping extra gas into my cylinders, I'm getting worse gas mileage and less horsepower. I've gotta get this thing tuned ASAP. My car would barely even start yesterday because of this issue. Sucks

Wow, that is wild... Whats your MPG like? Getting black on the tips from incomplete fuel burn?

I've had a build up of black on the tips since I bought the car, can't tell if that's worse now. I'm gonna take it to autozone and see if it's throwing a code and not showing it. I'm WAYYYY rich. I can tell how it's running, it's just pouring gas into the cylinders.

I would check to see if the intake air temp sensor is unplugged/damaged/hanging someplace. That is the most likely cause.

just try cleaning it off with MAF sensor cleaner and see if that does anything also i think if you unplug the battery for a certain ammount of time it will re learn **** and clear any codes. also though i heard if you unplug the maf while running it then clear codes and re connect it that will make it learn the new fuel maps im not 100 percent on those though im remembering from MAF problems with my 1996 GTP

I may try unplugging it. I'm getting 13 mpg, I was getting like 18.5 immediately after I put the intake on and it was much faster than it is now

brand new K&N, that usually occurs when you clean it yourself and over oil it, but thanks panther

Very true. Any vacume leaks, pinched wires to your maf

Nope, nothing like that man, my computer just rescaled the MAF because of the much colder temps it's reading because of the header wrap. The thing is staying ice cold now. Once it's tuned we'll see how that helps

I have an 05 and have had a FWI on it for over 2 years. No problems like you describe. Hopefully you get it figured out. I get 19.9 mpg and that is a combo of highway and city.

Ok, update time, I unhooked the negative on the battery for around 20 minutes and now the problem is fixed. My mileage is back up to 19.5 city and my horsepower has returned. I'm getting it tuned on april 4th so that will rid the problem. Thanks for your help guys
