Many people use 255/45/18's, and I think they have to roll the rear fenders.

These might fit onto stock wheels, but not recommended - they'll bow out pretty bad.

It's my understanding that 255's on our 7" wide wheels is too much, but obviously those with experience with them can say and prove otherwise. 245 is the max, according to many tire calculators out there (i.e. www.1010tires.com, www.tirerack.com).

For track days sure, but I'm pretty sure the handling characteristics are changed dramatically.

Not much at all as long as they have normal air pressure. That giant "Service Tire Pressure Monitoring System" is really annoying though. But I do like how the 245/45's handle better.

Well if 245 is the widest tire that's recomemded, what's the widest rim that we can go?

As far as we know, 8.5". There was somebody who was determined to put 9" wheels on, but I don't think we've heard from him lately. Of course, I'm not around as much as I used to be.

I have 18x8.5 wheels, no issues. But I'm only on OEM size tires, but will be stepping up to 255/45/18's soon.
