Broken valve stem/TPMS
I'm washing the car, as I wipe down the front driver wheel I just BARELY touch the valve stem and I start to hear a hissing. Next thing I know the top half of the valve stem, valve cap, and the little valve shoot out at me. Sonofabitch. $67 for a new TPMS sensor from the GM dealer. Anyone else have this happen to them?

I just had this happen to me yesterday! SOB. Went to put a little air in the tire and the valve caps were stuck. So i used a wrench to twist and managed to snap the whole valve stem. Never use the metal covers. I think they become corroded.
How much did it end up costing for a new valve stem with sensor and labor?

I hate the tpms sensors. I had one go out in my monte and my tahoe in the same week and they aren't cheap! They are a pain in the *** and more trouble than they are worth in my opinion. Luckily, i didn't have one break off like you guys did. What happens if one breaks off while going down the road and you get into an accident? Can you sue the government because they mandated an item that made you crash? Ha ha!
Rlfgx2, try dabbing a little anti-seize on the threads of your tpms sensor. That should keep the caps from fusing themselves on.

I believe I had it replaced at LeSchwab with one of the TPMS they sell there...I believe I paid a few bucks less than a GM sensor. Don't think they charged me for labor either, so it was a decent deal.
