Play in the wheels, is it normal?
Play in the wheels, is it normal? sorry for the newb question...
I had my front wheels off this weekend because I was putting disc brake goop & lube on my front brakes to stop the horrible squeak.
So anyways, with the car in P, Ebrake on and the front end jacked up, I noticed that you can rotate the front wheels forward and backward. I'd say there is about 2" of play in them. When I do this I noticed a slight "clunk" noise which is the exact same clunk noise I get when I'm in tapshift mode, 1st gear and hit the gas (which i was told this was normal)
Am I being paranoid? I've never noticed that much play in any car I've worked on before...is it normal for Ls4?

Its normal. The parking brake actually engages the rear wheels.So that has no effect on play in the front wheels. The slight play is why the cars can be hard to get out of park after parking and leaving a car on a hill.
