Yup...GM said long ago that when the W-Body's were done that engine platform was done. The 09 Impala was the last of the W-Bodies.... Good platform, and good cars...RWD is always more fun and more enthusiastic, but here in MI that platform was great.
//Edit: hey the Lucerne is getting the N*....that would be a cool little car.

Uh, what? The w-body isn't dying(yet). You're going to have the exact same Impala you do now for 2010, there will just be no SS, so yes the LS4 is dying. The Impala is slated to be produced as is for a couple more years, unfortunately. There's just no point in having the SS since they don't really sell and most people buying the Impala could are less about FWD/RWD V6/V8 or whatever.

I think NASCAR should go old school and make the car manufactures use what ever there biggest engine avalible in the productions cars in the race cars. I bet they would keep the LS4 around then. LOL . One V8 vs a hole bunch of v6 cars lol .

THere is nothing wrong with that. Ford is the only company who has not asked for Gov. money to help them. I might look towards them for my next car and the SHO is sweet looking, but the BLING in the front has to go.

I was excited about the SHO at first. No so much anymore. Still looks good, and has a great powerplant. But it just weighs too much (over 4300lbs.) and has WAYY too small brakes for it's size/performance. Definitely fast in a straight line(0-60 in 5.2 and a mid 13 sec 1/4 mile) but even with the AWD it's not gonna handle great. and for $40k the G8 GXP looks like a much better alternative(while you can still get one haha). That being said, the performance is still good for how much the car weighs. Imagine that turbo 3.5L in the Mustang that weighs a hell of a lot less. You'd have V6 mustangs beating up on new Camaro SS's. Too bad they're going with a N/A 3.7L instead of the ecoboost 3.5 in the Mustang.
And I highly doubt you will see a factory boosted Impala anytime soon. It's being sold as is til at least 2012, and with all the old people and fleet sales that make up the majority of the sales I don't know that they really see a need for that kind of car. Plus there's no engine at this moment that they would use anyways. It only made sense to drop the L67 in them in 2004-2005 since it was already being used in a ton of other cars.
