how fast is a Monte ss?
how fast is a Monte ss? hey guys,
wondering if anyone knows what top speed is on one of these ls4 monte ss's... anybody know?
I know it's illegal but my wife and I took mine out to see what it could do on some nice flat even road at 7am with no traffic.... i figured 120 top.... but i was surprised in less than a half mile i hit 140 on the speedometer.... i quit then because no idea how fast i would be going after that... but it was still gaining... i personally think this is as fast as my old lt1, and close to my old ls1 T/A..........
anyone know what the top speed is rated on these things? mine is a 2006 ss...bone stock with 54k on it

Ya i read somewhere the GXP were limited to 142-145 stock. But SS were like 150mph. Dont remeber where. So somewhere between 140-150mph. Which is odd since GXP's have the 160MPH speedo and HUD if we were to go faster than that.
i have had my gxp to about 159, but usually it tops at 153. I know though that the montes are faster than the gxp stock for stock. I raced one in mine before mine tune and he kept up pretty well, i was still faster but it wasnt a total kill considering i had a lot of work done.

With my mods it's 5.5 rolling onto the throttle slowly to avoid wheel spin. Maybe altitude explains the difference.
Maybe someday I'll actually be logging data during a good launch...

I've done 150 before but out in the country roads about an hour from where I live so I didn't have much room. I've got some nice long straights here on the highways but I don't want to risk going to jail!
Have you guys ever topped out 5th gear in a M6 fbody? Stock 3.42 gears. That took a long while and got scary towards the end.
