You guessed it, but it works great! 185 to 190 is the highest it goes now and that is in heavy traffic for way over an hour. Personally, I think GM should have designed a large separate cooler for the LS4's since everything is so cramped inside the engine bay. Plus, the X-Over is way too close to the top of the transmission. No wonder it gets so hot on these cars.

I'd love to post pics but that will be very hard. I have one cooler in front of one fan and one in front of the other fan. If I can get my hands on a camera I'll take some pics.

All I can say is it worked like a charm.

IAGXP,

Nothing over 200. 199 from the drive home which is close to an hour. That was the highest temp. When it hits 150 it takes forever to go up. I certainly do not expect the high temps I was getting. With just the radiator cooler I was sseing 244 as a high on a consistant basis. With a cooler running in series with the radiator I was seeing 235 as a high on a consistant basis. With just one cooler hooked up bypassing the radiator I was seeing 228 as a high on a hot day but only once in a while. With both coolers hooked up the highest I have seen is 199. It is good for a 45 degree drop in temps which will make the trans last a lot longer. So far I am glad I did this. The experiment so far succeeded.

You probably need a cooler bypass if you live in a colder climate for the winter.

I figured that into the equasion when I attempted this. I have room for block-off plates to place in front of the coolers if need be. We shall see...

I used two of these and bypassed the radiator cooler. I ran one in front of each fan on the outer side of the condensor. I mounted them in series and it cooled off my transmission by over 45 - 50 degrees. Works great and I do not have to worry about how hot the trans. gets now. My avg. temp is about 185 degrees now. I probably gave this transmission about 20,000 miles additional life with decent driving habits. Was worth the 80 to 120 dollars for the added insurance. These are actually made by Hayden. Here is the link.
