Default Anyone know where the VSS Wire is?

Does anyone know where to find the VSS wire in a 2006 Impala SS? I'm moving the factory Nav unit from my 2007 Tahoe to the Impala and I need to tap into the Vehicle Speed Sensor (VSS) wire under the dash so the voice prompts will work and the Nav will be more accurate.

IIRC BuffaloSS actually had to tap into it somewhere in the engine compartment.

I'll have to dig up the thread at AVIC411.com, but it's in one of the harnesses that are tied down @ the D/S front strut tower. The guy gave me diagrams of both of them, and all I can remember (sort of) off the top of my head is that (i think) it was a brown wire that I tapped into.

No problem. FWIW, as I mentioned in that thread, I couldn't find the grommet in the firewall, so I went through the fender, into the rubber wire boot in the door, then across to the headunit under the dash. If you find access to the grommet easily obtainable, please let me know. I couldn't contort myself enough to find/get to it.

That's the chore I've planned for myself today. I took a quick look under the dash, and I didn't see any grommets either. Your way seems like the path of least resistance.

Anyway, I'll let you know!
