Sorry for the late reply! I bought the rocker kit used on E bay for 400.00 and the springs from Lingenfelter for 75.00. I used the "Tims Tool" found in the for-sale section of this forum for 55.00 with the air compressor attachment. Still no ticks and vacuum is 18-19"hg at idle in drive. Now Im working on fitting an intake manifold with a LS2 valley tray. I just need to make a throttle body adapter and re route some fittings.

Well just like everything on E bay I took a chance and lucky for me I got lucky. It was a very easy kit to install and the results were extremely rewarding. Roller rockers, and push rods don't really wear, it's the studs and the poly locks that take a beating if there constantly being loosened and re tight-ed. If you can find a used set, go for it, or else keep saving. Either way you won't be disappointed!

I don't wanna hype.. the intake install up just yet cause I haven't started the install. once I get it on, I'll be sure to let everyone know what I did to get it on, and running. Here's the low down... LS6 Intake, injectors, fuel rails and LS2/3 valley cover. I'm going to use the LS4 throttle body with an adapter. The map sensor will be relocated and the rear vacuum fittings on the LS6 intake will be removed and the hole plugged for power steering pump clearance. Right now I'm waiting on the Valley cover and once I get it the crank case breather will be removed and the hole will be welded shut. The oil pressure outlet will be modified too. I will need to do some tuning if I get it to work, since I'll have bigger injectors and no more DOD solenoids. Stay tuned!

Withthe SLP rockers, how necessary are the reccommended springs, etc

NOTE 2: LS1, LS6 and LS2 engines may require SLP part # 53002 or part # 53003 springs, part # 53103 or part # 53104 retainers and part # 66345 keepers. Please reference chart below for proper application and part # 51185 or part # 51186 rocker arm package when purchasing the complete package.

If they are necessary, which ones do I order for the LS4?

I didn't change the springs on mine. I just used oil restricted pushrods. I have no valve float. Everything works great and no ticking from the rockers.

So you just ordered the rockers? Where did you get the pushrods? Do the pushrods have any affect on the DoD? It may be a stupid question but I am not mechanically savy as some.

I found the rockers in the classifieds for a steal on this board. They are SLP's and have 9k on them when I purchased them. The pushrods I used are Intense's Oil Restricted ones. Here is the link:

Great combo so far. I have about 1000 miles on the rockers since install. Absolutely no problems. I also kept stock wide open throttle shift points.
