Default Popping My Cherry At The Track ***Updated with Video and Times***

well fellas i am goin to be headin to the track for the first time this coming friday to see what kinda "awesome" times i can get haha.i know there have been other post but im kinda looking for advice with the weather ill be in and my setup. the temp is supposed to be 89 high and 68 low. humidity is supposed to be 50%. hopefully weather.com is right. i plan on getting there around 4ish (they open at 3) and lettin the car sit for an hour to cool down. i still have the OEM tires on it now and will be running those. im thinking about dropping the fronts to 26 psi and leaving the rears at 36 psi. other things will be brake stalling at 2000ish with the TCS and stabilitrak off. ill be running in auto til it shifts to 2nd and shifting to M through the line. possibly running without the headlight in. thats all i can think of right now. anybody else have any tips or advice for me cuz i am all ears

sounds like you know most the tips, you can probably go 2-4 psi lower on the front, one cheap mod is a set of spring blocks for the rear so when you take off your rear end doesn't preload causing the weight of your car to shift to the rear taking the weight and traction from the front, where you need it.
I paid $20 bucks for a set

That is not a bad time at all; especially for the first time drag racing. What was your 60' and reaction times? This really will predict the end results. Nice job.

so here was my day. drove about 45 minutes to take my fiance to the dr. and when i was pulling into the only entrance they have i got a nice car wash from their god damn sprinklers that were watering more of the road then the flowers so that pissed me off since i just cleaned my car (imagine that lol). got home and got all my **** around and started the trip to the track (2 hours there). half way there i realized i forgot my star head screwdriver to take out my bulbs outta my headlight so i could take it out (my HID's had to be tightened down a ton so they wouldnt bounce when i hit bumps so they can only be taking out by unscrewing the screws) so that pissed me off. i then got behind a combine that wouldnt get over and had about 30 cars behind it because it was a pretty busy highway so doing 20 in a 55 when i was in a hurry didnt make me too happy. i was lucky enough to park next to 4 mustang owners who decided to move cones so i couldnt park next to em after my first one so yeah they were the typical ******* mustang owners. the car was able to cool off a lil over an hour before each run so it didnt get heat soaked too bad when i ran. got there pretty much when they called DOT cars so i did my first run with the cutout closed and 36 psi in the fronts. here are the videos and details. oh and the cutout wouldnt open at all. thank you possum . videos arent that great of quality.

1st run of my life lol against a toyota tundra. pu$$y footed it with a brake stall around 2300 with the DD setup:

R/T-.762
60'- 2.321
330- 6.215
1/8- 9.445
MPH- 76.31
1000-12.206
1/4- 14.517
MPH- 97.84

http://s447.photobucket.com/albums/q...t=102_0318.flv

2nd run. 26 psi in the fronts and a 2000 brake stall. i spun all the way through the 60' and i hope i never run this slow ever again. this was against a later model mustang that i should beat.

R/T-.443
60'- 2.575
330- 6.893
1/8- 10.241
MPH- 74.67
1000-13.041
1/4- 15.362
MPH- 97.55

http://s447.photobucket.com/albums/q...t=102_0319.flv

3rd run. no brake stall and ran my best time. smoke the iroc z lol.

R/T-.828
60'- 2.203
330- 6.021
1/8- 9.191
MPH- 77.85
1000-11.899
1/4- 14.168
MPH- 99.80

http://s447.photobucket.com/albums/q...t=102_0320.flv

4th and final run: brake stalled at 1000 and beat a trailblazer SS.

R/T-.446
60'- 2.306
330- 6.142
1/8- 9.330
MPH- 77.47
1000-12.048
1/4- 14.319
MPH- 99.51

http://s447.photobucket.com/albums/q...t=102_0321.flv

Nice! I find it interesting that reving up on the converter actually hurt the times. Can anyone else chime in on this? Maybe it all comes down to the traction you get by easing into it.

Were these runs with TC on or off?

TC was off on all the runs. i think the reason my times were slower with the brake stall was lack of experiance aka driver mod lol....hopefully next time i go i can get it all squared away with the stall to get a better 60' time.

I've been trying to launch on the street doing this with the same problem. Just trying to practice the initial launch and I'm having trouble not blowing the tires off.

Get those 60' times down to 2.1 or lower and the reaction times a little better and you would have been in the 13's easily! Nice job! On my first time my 60' times were in the 2.2's and 2.3's too so don't feel bad. It sure is fun, huh? I also think the cutout open would have made a bit of a difference too. Next time...
