first off, changing from a red top to a yellow top is not an 'upgrade'. The YT is designed for low continuous load, the RT is for quick/high load applications (like starting a car). Second, get a meter on it and see if there what kind of load is on it when the car is off. It could be that your YT (remember, not designed to be good at starting a car, but more like a trolling motor on a boat), gets just weak enough over a week of slow drain to not have the oomph to spin the starter motor.

I think it's fairly common for there to be a bit of a parasitic leak in the system, but you could take it somewhere to have it tested.

I have a red top, and I usually have mine sit about 14 days, it starts up fine. My stock battery wasn't up to that task though. That is why I went with the red top.

My red top did the same thing a while back, same situation battery was only 6-8 months old and car was not started for 7 days but I left my radar detecter on and my I-pod plugged in and charging so I figured that was the cause...

06 SS, you're thinking of blue tops, those are for boats, yellow tops are made for cars with systems

Onstar should use the backup battery if the vehicle is off. That would be a retarded gm design, so it's possible.
