Default Question regarding Comp G 17s on 2008 GXP

I have a set of (4) 17" 2004 comp G Prix I'd like to run on my wife's 2008 GXP this winter. Will I need spacers or will they just bolt right on ? I'd like to them with Blizzaks ... with the OEM tires/rims it'll be in the ditch - or worse :-( Thanks guys

the comp g's are supposed to bolt right up...only 17" though as you have and they have to be comp G due to the caliper spacing...i need two of those....Ill buy the other two....you only need to change up the fronts....throw some 225's up front on the 17"ers...Im going to run two on the front for now when i find some for the strip for testing etc....plus that should help save the tranny a lil bit too...LOL no drag slicks yet LOL

If you are going to use winter tires, you need to do it on all four corners, not just the fronts. Doing only the fronts will give you better traction on the front than in the rear whcih will help with acceleration but during braking or cornering the fronts will still have better traction and the read end is going to want to come around on you. Not a safe idea.

Yeah, as shogun mentioned...never only put winters on the front...should go all 4. In fact, if you were only going with two (again, not advisable), they go on the rear (YES! ...even on a FWD car).

No problem, I have 4 rims and I'd rather be safe when it comes to the wife's driving ... what size tires should I run on them ?

ok...yes, run 4..Im pretty sure that the comp g uses 225's...which is same as the OEM rears on our girls guys...so two would be fine.
225 is the OEM tires for most GM pass cars in Wbody class...our backs are nuttn special except that they're are 18"...

But not to confuse the guy...just switch em all up...to 17" thats fine..in the big sceam of things it really will not matter
much as far as what you put on the back when talking about taking a 18" GXP wheel with a 225 tire on it and replacing it with a 17" Comp G 225...think about it...work smarter not harder..LOL

now if you did like i did and went to 275's in the front and 245's in the rear, then i would recommend you get another tire to at least the OEM 255 minimun on our cars...or, if using the 255's, then go smaller like you are... but going down in the front to 225 on a 17" there is no need to do it to the rear too...just keep the original 18" 225 on the back and go to the 17" in the front...but, use em if you got em

OK, so you are saying stay with the stock Comp G tire size on the 17" rims for both the front and back ?

you can man..its up to you...im saying that..LOL..

but just a lil bit silly to have to worry about switching the backs as well when they are the same tire size, just diff side walls and wheel height...

but to keep it simple, just switch em all out to 17" ers...youll be fine man...
