the intake REALLY opened the car up, and not having DOD makes it respond better while cruising

no updates yet sorry. been very busy with other peoples cars lol.

got a set of headers to go on, but we are going to change to a more aggressive cam when we do the headers, along with a high volume oil pump and a nice double roller chain. should be late spring/early summer when we get this thing on the dyno....

Default going to be putting a ported ls2 intake with 90mm throttle body

What I am going to try is putting these RHS spacers between the intake and heads to try to see if i can get the bottom of the ls2 intake to fit over the vlom cover after I modify the opsu I've talked with racing head service they said it could work cause I still want to keep the DoD active because its still my everyday driver for now. I will keep you posted on how this works out cause these spacers are about 250.00 for a pair of them they are custom built for race engines.

With my intake swap I get the exact same mpg without dod as I did with. I just have it tuned out. I drive 95 miles round trip a day down i95.

Those are indeed pricey for what we would actually need them for. In fact, that almost guarantees people would not have a problem modifying their replacement intake manifolds.

We need someone with a Chinese connection that can make these spacers for ~$40-$50 a pair. That way, hopefully, there would be no need to trim the DoD/AFM connector nor hesitate at the idea of removing the ribs from the bottom of the intake manifold.

And at what speed are you driving on I95 pray tell?

I drive between 70-80. I should specify I get the same combined mileage. The point of posting my daily commute was to show I drive more highway than not.

And that's exactly why I asked you about your speed. IIRC, DoD/AFM doesn't engage at those speeds/high RPM, etc. So it would make sense that you achieve similar fuel economy.

I drive down I95 weekly as well, albeit quite a distance away from you. DoD/AFM definitely does not engage.

There's a thread on one of those G8 forums where a guy tuned his GT to maximize the use of DoD/AFM: increasing the MPH limitation (85 MPH), RPMs, etc.

This is something I'd definitely like to investigate as I feel the stock tune is very restrictive with respect to DoD/AFM activation.

I'm not trying to undermine your reasoning but I had my dod tune opened up. It does engage at higher speeds. I ran it for 4 weeks with 4 weeks without. I got 19.6 without dod 19.8 with. And the tighter cruising converter and overall feel is worth it to me. I'm not trying to sell tuning out dod I dont work for shell....ok I do but that's besides the point. Just my opinion.

I believe 2k and under DoD is on, going 75 on a flat surface my DoD used to be engaged.
