Default New PB!

well i went to a much better track tonight....Milan Dragway about an hour and 40 minutes from me.....the results were better too....the temps were around 55-58 at the start of the night and at the last run were 48....they had a lot of nice cars there....new camero SS that i went against and got smoked lol....G8 GXP Caddy CTSv and all the typical mustang bitches....made 2 5.0 ones my bitch lol...also i saw a high school kid with a late 90's style mustang with a gay *** body kit that was putting the OTC octane boost thinking it would make his car faster....he mustered out a stunning 15.2 haha....the octane boost added 40 rwhp so it woulda been ugly if he did lol....on with my times which i still wasnt able to break 13's but i need to invest in a driver mod ......anyone got one for sale? i tried it with the cutout open and closed to see if it made a difference and i had higher traps with it open...cleanin the air filter and MAF made a big difference...also had the headlight out along with GTO spring blocks in and i shoulda launched harder

1st and best run against a newer GTO. the cutout was open tires at 24 psi and he kicked my *** lol

60' 2.24
330' 5.99
1/8 E/T 9.12
1/8 MPH 78.93
1000' E/T 11.80
1000' MPH 91.43
1/4 E/T 14.05
1/4 MPH 100.46

shoulda been in the 13's with a lower 60' but finally trapped 100

2nd run with the cutout closed against a new Camero SS and it wasnt pretty lol...also left the damn AC on

60' 2.13
330' 5.94
1/8 E/T 9.10
1/8 MPH 78.13
1000' E/T 11.82
1000' MPH 90.18
1/4 E/T 14.1
1/4 MPH 98.64

if i wasnt a dumbass and left the AC on it woulda been better

3rd run with cutout open against a 5.0 mustand that i smoked

60' 2.17
330' 5.97
1/8 E/T 9.12
1/8 MPH 78.27
1000' E/T 11.81
1000' MPH 90.73
1/4 E/T 14.08
1/4 MPH 99.52

4th run with the cutout closed and tires at 23 psi

60' 2.14
330' 5.93
1/8 E/T 9.07
1/8 MPH 78.37
1000' E/T 11.77
1000' MPH 90.91
1/4 E/T 14.03
1/4 MPH 99.52

5th run with cutout open was another 5.0 mustang that wasnt even close

60' 2.25
330' 6.02
1/8 E/T 9.16
1/8 MPH 78.53
1000' E/T 11.84
1000' MPH 91.26
1/4 E/T 14.1
1/4 MPH 100.21

i was happy with the traps but like i said i still need to work on my launch....next spring i will have drag radials so 13's will be in my sig lol.

Are you keeping the car in 2nd gear through the traps or shifting into 3rd? If shifting, keep it in 2nd and you should see your high 13.

i start off in auto then when it shifts to 2nd i throw it in M through the line so it holds it....the only thing holding the car back from 13's is its' driver lol

Still good times. I can't wait until it gets cooler here. I ran 14.01 @ 97 a month ago in 95 degree Texas heat. Now with drag radials I hope 13's is a given once I hit a 1/4 mile.

I ran at an 1/8th mile track last weekend with the DR's, in 85 degree, 75% humidity, and netted a 9.01 @ 77 in the 1/8th with a 2.06 60 foot. That's pretty much borderline 13's, so we'll see!

255/50/16 BFG Drag Radial. They were cheap enough, I was going to go with the new Toyo TQ in the same size, which is cheaper, but I got the BFG's same day I ordered 'em so I went that route.

I ran them with 27psi in the tires, heated them up just like regular tires, and no traction issues. I'm sure I could lower the pressure and get better 60 foots, but I'm need to drive the car home!

the track didnt have a air pump to put air back in? all the ones i have been to do.

when it comes to DR i did have a few questions....do you treat it as a regular street tire when it comes to tire pressure (i run mine at 24) or do you run them different at the track? i wasnt sure if it would be a better idea to drive on them to the track or change them there since i will have my DR's on a 17'' rim. i know they would last longer if i changed them at the track but wasnt sure how much street driving they can handle. last but not least are the burnouts with DR's pretty quick like street tires?

I don't lower my pressure because I want the trans not to break! I run my street tires at 30psi, and the dr's slightly lower at 27psi - personal preference. A lot of people like to lower the pressures more, my personal expierences is that it doesn't make much difference with a street tire.

I swap 'em out at the track, I don't want to kill them driving them on the street, being that they come new with around 5/32nds tread. I also have all the amenities to do this with comfort. 1/2" Electric Impact gun, big jack and gloves to make the swap easy.

For burnouts, I don't heat 'em up much, like a street tire. I light them up in 1st, let off right before it would shift to 2nd. After that I spin 'em a little before staging and make sure they are sticky.

kinda jealous of your tools for the track....when i put my spring blocks in i had to use a regular car jack...it sucked lol...im kinda paranoid about leaving **** lay around when i would go to get in the lanes....guess i will just have to get over leavin my rims and tires all alone lol.....damn i dont spin my street tires much....just put the e brake on and spin for 1-2 seconds to clean them off.

I usually go to the track with friends, who can keep an eye out for our things. I also haven't seen or heard of anything stolen at the track, but it can definitely happen. I also bring a blanket or a large shop towel to cover my things.

As for the tools, I spend about $2000 a year so far on tools for work, I hope I have enough for the track!

What size DR's are you planning on getting? I didn't see too many 17" DR's that would be good for our cars.

I dunno about those, losing 30MM in width per tire, 60MM total. That's losing over two inches of tire touching the ground.

I wonder if anyone has any expierence with that size on our cars.

I had those on a Sentra! lol

I have only run Milan with my Imp. Not bad 60's for street tires. My PB 60' was a 1.9 with BFG drag radials set at 22 PSI. I noticed you mentioned GTO spring blocks which I used to run on my Taurus SHO. I had gotten them through a prep guy at a Pontiac dealer. I have found it impossible to find a set anymore and would love some for the ***-squatin' Impala. Any clues where I could score some? Now go get tuned and run mid 13's.
