Default LS6 throttle body

I know we have a different number of wires. But has anyone looked to see if it could be wired up when doing the LS6 intake swap?

Ok, I was under the impression that it was larger. However, If we could get it wired up easily we could go with an aftermarket LS1 TB.

A larger tb wont really help, it will be a lot harder to rig up and the gains arent that much even when the car puts out 500-600hp. So on our cars you would see any gains, maybe a loss in low end power. Also the ls6 intake flows ALOT better than any other ls intake(save for the ls3 and 7)

I'm about to do headers and LS6 intake when I get the transmission built. Going to wait on the cam for a while, when I get bored with what I got. I guess I'll get an adapter fabbed up.

I find that awfully hard to believe- why would GM have put a 90mm on the LS2 if it only made 400 hp if there were little to no gains to be had by it?

here's something to think about, the LS6 intake makes more power than the LS2 and it uses a 78mm TB vs. 90mm.

At the 400hp level there won't be large gains, but when you get into the 500+ hp level the gains are significant. LS1 guys use the fast 90/92 and pick up good hp at that level. Cost is usually the biggest concern when debating intakes.

With an LS4 you'll probably never need more than an LS6 intake with 78mm TB.

I wonder how much of that has to do with the manifold's design though. My point is, GM uses a 90mm TB on a 400hp stock engine; and the aftermarket has been using FAST 90 setups and making gains on engines under 600+hp- so there has to be some reason for it, or some gain to be had with it.

Thats not to say I'd throw a FAST 90 setup on an otherwise stock LS4- just that I do think there are power gains to be had well below the 600+ hp level mentioned.

I think if you had a car making crazy power, a 90/92mm tb would be great but our cars will very see that level of power unless its turboed. Maybe a few ponies would come from switching from the ls6 to the fast 90mm but it would be under 5hp unless we make power.

A 78mm TB can flow around 650 CFM. The LS4, even operating at 100% VE (which it doesn't), can only flow about 560 CFM @ 6000 rpm, so really no need for a bigger TB.
