Default To EVERYONE that has had tranny problems,

Do you have aftermarket wheels that are larger the the 18s it came with? I'm just wondering if having bigger wheels contributes to the problems. Not only that, what effect does having bigger wheels have on our performance.

Overall rolling diameter and weight is more important than just saying I have 20" wheels instead of the stock 18". Offset may also play a small factor as to how much weight is centered on the hub.

Wheels with a larger overall diameter will give you even taller gearing, in effect slowing your acceleration. Also take into account the extra weight of a larger aftermarket wheel and yes, performance will be hurt.

Bigger wheels usually mean more inertia, which will hurt starting and stopping performance. They make the car ride (bumps) a lot worse, but they can help handling (turning) if paired with the right tires. But I think changing tires is more of a big deal. Once you change the tire, especially if you change the aspect ratio, all bets are off. If you can take an average car and throw on some sticky low profile tires, you can take it to a road course and run a much better lap time. The flip side is that the extra grip makes the vehicle more likely to rollover, but you have to really work to get a vehicle to rollover without getting sideways and hitting the curb. What I'm trying to get to in a rambling way is that when you went to bigger wheels you probably also went with low profile high performance tires, and the increased grip and inertia make shifting harder on the transmission.

It adds too it, yes in effect. Its kinda like the last straw that broke the camels back with these cars. Its not a single mod that puts you over the edge and you start breaking ****. Its the CAI combined with the Exhaust combined with the shift kit combined with the tune etc...
