As you can see it's probably also possible to use the 1998-2005 corvette ones with the two wiring connectors. Both of those tbs will bolt up to the ls6 manifold.

The truck one is the newer design and would be the best option other than making an adapter plate for the manifold.

One of these.

There are two versions of the 8pin truck tb. A 4 bolt and a 3 bolt. They might use the same motors though. The new one is in like 06+ tbss, silverados, sierras, etc.

It has been stated by GM engineers and many magazine articles and other techs that the LS6 intake is about 10hp stronger then the LS1 intake above 4500rpm.

Built LS6 with cam and headers with tuning

Another cammed LS6 with headers.

On a smaller engine with a smaller cam and less gear I would opt for the LS1 intake and if I had a built motor I'd just spend the extra money on a FAST manifold.

I'm all for the LS6 intake, but I don't think one should "have" to have it over the LS1 intake unless they were both the same price. Withe our stock cam, small cubed motor it will be fine and make plenty of power. 60.00 for about 20hp at the wheels is a great deal! Plus, I wouldn't feel bad cuting it up.

I have a 3 bolt truck TB bought on ebay, it has the same 8 pin connector as the LS4 and bolts right to LS6 manifold. I just made an adapter cable thanks to neilownz info. The TB and manifold neck mating surface is not completely round as in the LS4, but the standard odd shape with extra open area on top right. I am guessing this was designed this way to dampen intake air sounds/noise. I used this extra area as a place to tap for vacuum fittings for pvc and brake booster. See the photos in above post

Once again I will try and make myself clear for those of you that CAN'T F$%^IN READ. I didn’t want to go with the LS6 didn't want to spend the extra money on it not to mention the fact I was going to be cutting it. So please stop telling me to go with the damn LS6 manifold! Am I being a dick head yes I am, but I am sick of people that can’t see that I did this to gain a bit of power for a little money. Thanks Tappeter, DavidGXP and neilownz for the help!

relax dude, nobody is telling you what to do were just making sure you are well informed before you go........"wish I had installed an LS6", but whatever.

@DavidGXP, yes the LS6 is "rated" at +10hp over a stock ls1 but people commonly see +15 at the wheels over the ls1. Don't forget GM was a little over conservative with their power ratings a few years ago.

Not bagging on the LS6 intake in no way shape or form. I know it's better and if I had an engine that already had one on it, then I would never ever consider down grading to a LS1. Now, in the LS1's defense, the Z06 had upgraded heads, pistons (more Cr), maf sensor worth 2-3hp and camshaft. GM said that the new manifold was 10 hp stronger. Now, the ZO6 was made to rev a little higher so a new intake was a must.
The 01-02 F bodys got the LS6 intake and the LQ4 camshaft with less lift then the previous F cars. Also, GM removed the EGR and added better flowing exhaust manifolds All of this added 5hp total. Swapping the LS6 intake onto a 98-00 LS1 is a popular trend cause its a direct swap and they have the better cam, but... why not go F.A.S.T intake? Cost!
The writing is on the walls with the article's I posted above. I truly do not believe the LS6 intake on our motors, is worth the price for just a few ponies upstairs. Cost!
Once we start swapping cams and raising compression I would be more inclined to defend the LS6 intake.
Seriously, read those articles and look at the graphs. Then, stop and think about the cams there using, and the LONG TUBE HEADERS, electric water pumps, tb's and expert tuners. Then stop and think how much power that would be at the wheels.

And as I said in my 2nd post in the thread after you told me the ls6 was better which I knew already. I said thanks for the input and then explained why I went with the ls1. Thats why I got pissed about the whole thing. but again thanks for the input!

I just got a tbss throttle body in the mail and it's 6 pin ls2 style connector if anyone was interested in that option. The truck intake would bump into the power steering no doubt.

Nope still getting parts together. Just picked up sum ls6 yellow springs and scorpion 1.8 rockers. On a side note I did try hooking up the DBW truck tb and it didn't work so I don't know wtf is going on? I still have to figure that one out. I also still need to pick up a LS2 vally cover, catch can, push rods, and save a few pennies for the tune.

The GM truck DBW systems underwent a redesign sometime in the 2007-2008 model year. They went from a separate DBW controller box to having the functions integrated to the PCM. I believe that meant that the TB electronics were changed, too, which is why you had problems swapping it in.
