05 gxp only 42k miles when trans went out
modded exhaust and intake at the time.

not to mention a complete rewire of the stereo, interior lighting, speakers, steering wheel. (not that this has anything to do with tranny but my dealer tried to blame it on a wiring issue)

Some dealers void warranty if they see a CAI

The dealer will do what they want..I know some will not and some will help you.
I always thought this was true till recently I heard about the magnuson warranty act even with basic mods you can still be protected and covered under warranty.

Yeah, dealers can refuse to perform warranty work, but can't void a warranty. It's a GM warranty, not a Joe Blow's Chevy Dealership warranty.
