The problem I see are people buying cams for 347+ cu in motors with our heads. They're trying to flow a ton of air through a small engine with terrible restrictions. You're dead on the money, in my opinion.

I still believe a lot of people haven't done cam swaps yet because the combined weak link of our TB, intake manifold, and exhaust manifolds are just getting attention right now.

I have this evil desire to get something bigger than the TR224 just to see the look on people's faces. But I must tell myself to save my money and not mod this poorly set-up performance car.

wow its the red monte club inhere yeah a cam seems excessive without headers and a better intake

dont exactly think we gotta take everything out.. maybe just lower the engine a bit.. enough to get to the crankshaft and camshaft and the springs and rockers can be done with just undoing the mounts and dogbone.. and then after thats done we can see some real gains from headers and intake..

you could do a DOD cam and avoid pulling the heads and intake. Within the next couple months my buddy's car will have a cam in it (along with the long over due thorley headers and LS6 intake). As soon as we get it all together we'll make a video and possibly some dyno numbers.

That's always an option, NewEra Performance has DOD cams for the G8 that still make good power and sound aggressive. I would be worried about those DOD lifters after a little while with a more aggressive cam. They have been known to die on the stock cam (BuffaloSS, mixerda). If it was me, I would go in and replace all those lifters to some better ones than OEM, then do the cam....essentially removing DOD.

i hear ya, but it's not my car it's nmp0098's car. I'm just helpin out. He's already got the LS6 intake, tune and air box. Next is the cam, headers & cutout.

If it were my car I'd probably install rockers and let my wet kit fill in the gaps...... or if I did swap the cam it would be a non-DOD, lingenfelter GT2-3 and I'd probably even mill and port the heads too.
