A cam will require the engine to come out, the heads to come off, lifters, springs, and pushrods installed, might as well do a higher stall converter while you're in there, and a tune.

you shouldnt have to pull the motor or the heads to do a cam, but it would make it easier. i dont know from experience. ive never done one in a ls small block, but you dont have to on the first gen small blocks. i cant believe that it would be that much different, but i do agree that if your going to cam it a tune is a must.

LS motors have to have the heads pulled to do lifters and our motors have to come out to get the cam in/out.

learn something new everyday. thanks for the info. that sounds like a major pain in the *** to do a cam swap. i think at that point then you might as well go all out.

idk man i think mixerdas sounded pretty nasty in that one vid he had where he had someone following him, but i wouldnt go through all that trouble if all i was looking for was sound. i dont think anyone has had really good gains from a cam swap yet. i want to see one dyno with a cam, ls6 intake, and the headers if the numbers are good then id be sold on this.

If I were to do a cam, I can guarantee you we would see some great gains from intake/headers/cam. It's all about finding someone who can properly spec a cam for your motor.

definitely. i think the big issue with power gains are the crappy ls4 intake and exhaust or a bad head cam combo. im waiting to see someone get a good combo on the dyno.
