Default Truck Coils

If you can find them, get them. It may not be much of a gain but the butt dyno says it got a little peppier. Hell, it can't hurt....if you can get them cheap it's a 15 minute swap.

125 for brackets, harnesses, and coils. I've seen them as high as 200. This is for D585 coils.

I have a guy on ebay telling me he has AC Delco D514A (GM 12573190) coil and bracket assemblies and that these are hotter truck coil packs. I tried to look them up and as far as I can tell, they are just "2nd design" car coils. Anyone have any more insight?
If you do a search for D585, you find a lot of sites offering these in surplus bulk. But I can't find the brackets. Can D585 be made to fit in our brackets?
Another seller on ebay has them with wires for $200 for each side! I have also seen them for $260-$290, tooooo much.

I think 514 are ls2 coils which are what we already have.

https://ls1tech.com/forums/generatio...ke-sticky.html

The truck coil brackets are 10457736, 2 needed.
The LS2 wiring harnesses are 12601824, 2 needed.
The coils are 10457730 (AC D585), 8 needed.

Search on here if you want to buy from other users in the classifieds too.

Doesn't seem worth the effort to me.

I got mine off of the classifieds on this forum. I paid $145.00 for everything. I looked on E-Bay too and thought they were too expensive. I just saw a set for $125.00 for everything last week in the classifieds. They have given me .5 miles per gallon better fuel mileage. I did that test over a week going back and forth from work and no extra driving. That alone makes it worth it. The car runs a lot smoother too. It IS worth the upgrade. I went with the D-585 coils.

If you get a complete set, all you need is a 10mm socket. It is a plug - n - play application. A complete set is the coils, coil wiring harness, and the brackets. As fast as a CAI to put on.

I read somewhere that you also need to change the spark dwell setting in hp tuners

You don't NEED to, but doing it is an added bonus. BUT.. i'm just basing that statement on all the success a lot of people are having without adjusting the spark dwell setting. If you can, do it; the guy actually has the tune posted in the before mentioned thread.

I bought my coils/bracket/wiring harness set for 130 shipped on ebay. To me that's not a bad deal at all for a simple swap that pretty much insures a hotter spark/more complete combustion, especially in the higher rpm ranges. I did mine in about 10 mins.

Interesting.

On the left is an LS1 coil, in the middle is an LS2 coil, and on the right is an LS2/truck coil.

My coils looks more like the ones on the left than the middle. Maybe there's a semi upgrade with the D514-A coils.

I just sold my old ones for $100.00, so this mod only cost me $45.00. Not bad if I do say so myself. This really makes it worth it. Plus, it was nice brownie points with the wife. ; )

We have the middle ones pictured. The way the picture is it makes it look round when in reality they are squarish with rounded edges. That pic does no justice.

Mine look like the top ones on the right in the second picture. The D585 look like the ones labeled ls7 in the same pic.

The ones that came off of my car look identical the the ones in the second pic top/right labeled LS2/L98 coils. The ones I purchased were the ones in the first pic all the way to the right with the heatsinks on the bottom.

I bought the wrong coil packs, I needed the the ones in the second picture bottom right but ended up with the ones that have the heatsinks and now will be looking to get rid of them. DANG! Wish I better researched this initially and located better pics.

The ones with heatsinks are better though. Just need different harnesses/brackets maybe...

Buy the truck coils with brackets and it's a bolt-on, plug-in ordeal.

Let me correct my earlier post. I needed the D514-A ones and now am trying to get rid of my D585 coil packs. The D585 packs are better but I'll be running an LTCC setup on a LT1. According to Bob Bailey, of whom I trust since he created the module, "The 19005218 (D585) coils have proven to not work properly with the LTCC."
