I'm at 51k now and haven't noticed any smells/leaks from mine as of yet. That does worry me now though especially with summer coming and how hot the engine bay gets on those really warm days. I'm surprised the transmission hasn't quit either at the rate others have lost it at lower miles than I have.

For real, I would let mine burn... Cops would show up and think it was arson by the smile on my face.

Glad to here it all worked out in the end, Menace!

Just called the dealer earlier today, and mine goes in Wednesday for the recall.

It would be tempting to just "let her burn" if it happened, but the car is my wife's daily driver, and my 3 year-old son rides in it a lot.

Yes, scary. What happened to the car?

Also, are all our (GXPs) windshields the same? For some reason, I have never noticed that "dark" shaded area near the rear view mirror mount.

I do, I wonder if they will rebuild the car.

Umm, no. The AM/FM antenna is integrated into the rear window. That black mesh tubing is for the mirror wires.

I am starting to think that that dark area is to protect the mirror from getting too hot due to any sun exposure.
