AlabamaGuy,

Was it a 5.0 with all the goodies? I only ask cause most of the ones I seen now are SBC swapped.
Yep, 306 converted to carb with full bolt ons.

I'll be running my buddies 01 bolt on GT soon. I think I'll get walked though, his best e.t. is 13.1 @ 108, but averages 13.3-13.4 @ 103-104.

Get the launch down and you'll be alright, if it's on the street.

Yeah I could tell. I'm telling ya, if you raced in gear mode, you'd beat him for sure. It really makes a big difference, I always upshift before I hit the 5800-6000 mark when I race.

I'm pretty sure that's not true. Computer controlled transmissions shift where they need to. Especially if you have a tune, like I do.

it's a different story if you have a tune, but I meant manually shifting would've helped

Manually shifting an electronically controlled car in a drag race really isn't beneficial.

The shift times in drive are different(shift earlier) than if you do it manually. At least I believe so. But hey, that's just my two cents

That's correct for factory tuned vehicles. With the tune, you can set the shift points at WOT to a selected RPM that's beneficial for racing. When I was stock, I'd put it into '2' to redline rather than shift into 3rd earlier.

With my tune, I have the shift points set higher, so there is no real need for me to manually select the gears.
