Default Throttle controlled cutouts?

Do they exist? Would they be a good idea?

Corvettes have something like that, with a second path through the muffler that can be opened up for more power (and sound).

The ZR1 and I think the new Z06 have the butterfly valves on the back..and has a sports mode to keep those valves open up wide.

The problem is the motor to open and close the valve that much it would burn out way to fast. I am sure you could rig the electronics to open at WOT..but as if you have seen these things work they do not open as fast as you would think like a blowers butterfly valves.

Good idea but I dont think it would sound good and way to complicated to get it to work and be reliable..I would email one of the cutout companies and ask them. But if its not out there..there is probably a reason why,

A few months ago there were no headers for LS4. And there's no supercharger for the LS4, because it can't 'fit under the hood'.

But yeah, the gears would probably burn out really quick. Maybe an on/off switch so it doesn't always open up. Mine doesn't open too slow, but not fast enough to open wide under WOT. Maybe just put a throttle body in the exhaust, lol.

Just throwing ideas out there. Great things come from ideas.

Anything is possible with enough money. The currently available electric cutouts are not made nor intended to be opened and closed frequently every time you drive, but I am sure that one could be made to do that. The electric motors in currently available cutouts are very small for ease of installation and relatively weak, so they must be geared to increase their torque which also slows them down. I am sure that a better, stronger/ faster direct drive electric motor could be attached to a cutout that would work, but it would cost considerably more and be larger needing more room for installation. It sould be no problem for anyone with good electrical background to figure the wiring to made it work with electric throttles.

Good idea, Find a car that came with something similar from factory in a junk yard and graft it onto your car.

YEa but how long have electric cutouts been out for millions of cars and trucks. And there is nothing out there..again unless its close enough to the throttle body to work with it.

I just do not see it..these butterfly valves on the vette are actuated and really do just change the exhaust note and a little bit of a more free flowing idea..
