I was just looking at the flex pipe, looks like there is a leak from the connection from the cross over pipe, wet area.

I am going to wrap mine since they are still not on the car. I should be able to get it tight if they are off, right?... I certainly hope so...

Thanks for the updates, guys.

Talking Thorley header whistling fixed(5.3L, 08 gxp)

The fix was a high quality 6" flex coupling from "Vibrant Performance" part #45666(turbo flex coupling), which has no nipples. The turbo flex coupling has an addtitional liner for high flow or super charged vehicles. The correct way to weld the flex is a "butt" weld. The flex coupling must be welded in straight without resistance on the flex. The flex coupling from Thorley is a $15 or $20 part and the one from Vibrant is $45msrp. The job took 4.5 hrs to remove "y"section, cut out old flex, weld in new flex, replace 3" of pipe(stainless) to top of flex, where it connects to the crossover and reinstall upgraded "y"pipe.
The car sounds great now
If anyone needs help with this please feel free to email me khurley@blackwave.tv.
I will post pictures and a video of the exhaust on you tube.
Follow-up post later to explain how i did the second part of the exhaust(cat).

Talking Thorley headers- do not wrap

Never wrap ceramic coated steel, ie:headers. The wrap over time ruins the coating due to the lack of heat dissipation. It will also decrease the life of the steel and the welds. I took the ambient(underhood) temperature before header installation and after. There was no difference in temperature.

Talking Thorley header whistle(5.3L, 08 gxp)

Attached are photos of the old defective Thorley flex coupling(removed)and photos of the newly installed "Vibrant Performance" turbo flex coupling #45666 (6"x2.5"). Also are photos of my rear header collector connection to a 3" test test pipe made of T304 stainless(flanges all T304 also). I also installed a bung in the test pipe for the rear O2 sensor(cat), which doesn't throw any engine codes on the instrument panel, no orange lights. You will notice i have welded a stainless flange onto the collector part of the "Y" pipe where it meets the "CAT" or in my case the test pipe. Then I welded a stainless flange on either end of the test pipe for easy removal or put the cat back in(never). The other end of the test pipe connects to the stock flange on the resonator. Car runs great, inceased power and sounds even better! ohh dont forget the great old school exhaust smell!
Once again any questions email me at khurley@blackwave.tv.

I will try to upload a video of the exhaust

I think you should get 5"..it appears mine is 3" but its better to have extra and make sure its T304 stainless(highly resistant to corrosion).

Will these just bolt up to the downpipe no problem?? Also does anybody know how loud this would be?? Any info appreciated. Thanks Jeff

Downpipe has to be cut to make it fit, the exhaust shouldn't be too loud, the stock GXP tips sucks, when I had my hooker mufflers on the car I had the stock GXP tips welded on the mufflers and it was quite, so I cut the stock GXP tips off of the hooker mufflers and wow it was so freaking loud.

Look at my photos above I posted, from couple of days ago. There is a photo of the header Test-pipe connection. I removed the cat and put in 3" test pipe w/flanges. the test-pipe is where your cat would be. Thorley instructions say to cut the cat and leave 2" or 3" in front of the cat to weld the header to. I suggest flanges when you do this.
