Default Need tire advice!

Hey guys I'm looking to replace the stock tires on my ImpSS. I went to Goodyear shop and they wanted to talk me into a set of Eagle F1 Supercar EMT 255/45/18.

I've read some mixed reviews on this tire so I am a bit on the fence about them. Any of you have some suggestions of what to get in a 255/45 size? I don't want a super soft tire, I'd like to get more than 10k miles out of it!
Thanks!

Those are EXTREMLY!!! good tires but two problems. First, they are expensive. Second they dont last long at all maybe 10k miles. I was looking at them but they just wear down too quickly.
I really like my bfgoodrich g-Force T/A KDW 2. They are louder than some tires but they grip a lot better. Plus wet weather grip is awesome.

They are on sale for 199 a tire, which is good considering they are 350-400 but yeah I don't want to replace tires every 10k miles..
I'm looking at those BFG too! When you say louder, is it very noticeable inside the cabin?

I got a set of Firestone Firehawk gt's when I got my car. Put about 16,000 miles on them and probly got another 4,000 left. They grip OK. Not the best, but not bad.

I work at a Goodyear dealership. Goodyear tires suck. We have to replace them under warrenty all the time. When dealerships put them on cars, sell the car, then when the custermers complains about them, the send them to us. I will never recomend them to anybody. Not all are bad, but I would not reccomend them.

The best tire that we sell are Pirelli's. They can be alittle expensive, but worth it.

Kumho's are also a good tire.

I put BFG KDW2's on the front last January and got a good 20-22k miles out of them with hard driving and a couple trips to the track. They hooked pretty damn good up until the last few thousand miles. Those had a 300 treadwear rating. I just replaced them with some Yokohama AVID ENVigors in 255/45 and they are much quieter and have a 560 treadwear. I thought I would have zero traction given such high TW rating but I can't break them lose from a 25 roll now. 15mph WOT only makes for a brief TCS kick in. Only 200 miles on them so far but I'm happy with them.

Are you all only changing the front tires only or all four with 255? I only have enough money for two right now lol..

Also on those BFG's, how is the wet traction? I live in rainy south FL and rainy season is coming!

the supercar EMT's r the corvette runflat tires, u don't need those... i wouldn't put anything bigger than the stock 235/50's on the stock 7" wheels... u need 8's for a 255/45... if the guy working there knew anything about tires, he'd know that...

a 7" wheel is definitely not recommended for a 255mm tire, but it will work. The sidewall more than likely bow a little bit, but will work.

I mounted some 245's on stock wheels with absolutely no problems.

Not to add, the sidewall on a 7" wide tire with 255's would look funky; truck style.

I went with these Contis based largely on TR tests, reports, and surveys.

I'm with Cully 77. I went with the Goodyear Eagle Gt's. I've had them 10k miles and they're still holding up great. I also like the tread design.

the bf g-force tires are amazing in the rain. I was only able to do like 80mph with the potenzas. With these i can do easily above 120, havent tried to go further. Also when i pull out into an intersection when its wet my tires dont slip anymore.
