Hey guys this is Don Rome. If you guys want to do a group buy I can give everyone a $10 discount on the modified front & rear STB bars & brackets package. Let me know if that sounds good, and I'll keep it open for a while so everyone can receive the lower price.

I'm not a large vendor like ZZP or some of the other big names, so I can't afford to offer a big discount on the parts I sell. Everyone does get free shipping anywhere in the USA, and it's not cheap to ship the STB bars & brackets in a large box. Plus I have to pay the shipping cost to have the bars sent to me for modification, so when it comes down to it I feel my prices are very reasonable.

they stiffen up the car a good bit
the front bar, on mine and a couple other, did hit the hood over-so-slightly, nothing to make it bulge, more like, it rubbed the hood.. good stuff for the money, one of the first things i did to my '06 imp

it does on my Monte... can see the hood paint marks on the bar where it hits... and from the outside, the back side edges of the hood sit higher than the fenders... you can tell by looking at it a little, and you can definitely feel it when you rub your fingers/hand over it - they're not flush with each other anymore..

nice solid feel when closing the hood, but, that's because it's hitting/sitting on the bar pretty good hahaha...

if you look at the bar, you'll notice that when it's mounted, the top of the bar itself has an angle/slope to it - and the high end is towards the engine, while the low end of the slope is towards the firewall....

I'm wondering if, the modification for the alternator was done to the other end of the bar instead, so it could be installed the other way with that angle/slope facing the other way, if it would make a difference.

Yeah, I'd like to see the notch-to-hood issue fixed before I make a purchase.

Don, do you paint them (the STBs) as well?

The total for the STB bars and brackets with free shipping in the USA would be $175 shipped. The hood does contact the bar but it did on my 2004 Grand Prix too. I just put a piece of thin weatherstripping on the hood where it touched the bar, that stopped the paint from being rubbed off it. The bars are painted black and I repaint the front bar black after I modify it.

so you're saying to take it off... put it on the ground... and then step down on the middle of the bar? and that will fix it so it doesn't touch the hood?

hmmm... may have to try it this weekend... hehe...

thanks Flip!

I can paint the bars any color for $5 more if you don't want them black.

Flip told me he wasn't going to do the bars. You asked about a group buy price and I said I would give everyone a $10 discount. I'm not going to modify, paint and ship the bars for free.

Thanks for the front bar fix.

So what exactly is going on now? What's the final price for both bars (fixed front bar) and brackets?

Am I to assume that the above final price would be +$5 if anyone wanted them painted other than black?

Don, I'm pretty sure I know how your 'modification' works haha... I'm not against it, nor do I have anything bad to say about the product. I am happy with the price/service I received, as well as the performance. I also never noticed any hood clearance issues...

The bars and brackets are $175 shipped which includes a $10 discount. Since my website is set up for the original price of $185, I will send you a refund of $10 once the payment is made. If you want them painted another color other than black, I will send you a $5 refund. I have 3 pairs of bars so I need to know if I need to order any more. The parts will be shipped in the order I receive the payments.
