Default DOH!! A/C not working...

uugghh... went to use the A/C the other day, cuz it was in the 80's and humid here... and it didn't work!! just blowing out hot air...

checked it out last night - compressor doesn't even sound like it's clickin' on when I push the A/C button on...

I checked the fuse for the compressor, and it's fine...

but, there's also a relay for the a/c compressor - and I'm wondering if that's shot - no way to tell by visual inspection...

any thoughts/ideas??

thanks!

I would put a guage on the low pressure side to see if you have any pressure first. The compressor will not run if there is no pressure. Obviously if you don't have any pressure there is a leak. If there is pressure then it maybe the pressure sensor. Does anyone know if you can scan the hvac system for codes or read signals? Good luck.

well, looks like I just need a recharge... WHEW!!!

my pressure is too low in the system, so that's why it's not coming on...

and there IS pressure, so I know it's not a leak... I have about 81-83 psi in there...

so that's good news for me! whew!!

Thanks for everyone's tips/suggestions - it's appreciated!!!

If the pressure is low there is a leak. Might be slow enough for you to get a year or two out of a recharge. Have dye added when you get it topped off.
