My LS4 did win. You're saying I will win even when he ditches the ridiculous rims?

My Son's stock 2000 SS LS1 6sp runs 13.1/108 & his freind's 2001 TA LS1 auto runs 13.2/107 so you won't even come close unless they are bad drivers.

You should have a good race with the LT1.

You said lose so I guess you already know that you will. I'd say you will lose by 4-5 cars
Race a automatic LS1!

I know there's no chance against an LS1. The race with the LT1 was a close one-with the huge rims. It was literally my first race though. My driving skills need a lot of improvement; I just got the car last Wednesday. My last car was a 2000 Bonneville SE. So clearly I have no experience driving V8s let alone racing. I have a lot of trouble handling the spin outs, too. I raced in automatic because I don't have good control with the torque steering and all, so the power shifting could have been a disaster- but I've been practicing.

Just leave the tc on and roll into the throttle. Once your trans hits 2nd gear move your shifter into M and tapshift 2nd to 3rd at 5800-5900 and you will won't look like a fool. Goodluck!
Before you take off, make sure you do a couple of quick burn outs. Just enough to lightly clean off the tires and to get them a little warm. You don't want them smoking, cause radial street tires will create little ***** of rubber that will make you loose traction.

Yep, you should still get him when he ditches the rims. By that time your driving prowess will have improved at least that much.

You should be fine. It feels faster because of gearing.

I wouldn't be too sure about that, Years ago my buddy had a 95Z, auto with only a CAI and DR's and ran a 13.6@100.

So he was trapping right with a stock LS4 car. The DRs just bumped the ET.

yep, that's what I mean, it's going to be really close, probably a driver's race. Remember, an M6 is going to trap a few mph higher than the A4. If he can get him off the line he'll be good. Those 6 speed f-bodies aren't known for launching very well, the autos usually win because of that, I'm sure you know.

Yep. If our friend here can get his launch down just right and step out there, I don't see the LT1 coming back around.

Quoted for truth. The A4s always seemed to trap slightly lower, but would run faster ETs. I speak from experience that launching an M6 cleanly is VERY difficult. Add a ceramic clutch (SPEC Stage III or IV, anyone?) it becomes nearly impossible.

I do agree with the consensus here, though. I wouldn't even bother taking the time to get owned by that LS1 car. The LT1 race should be fun, though.

I thought I'd share a little personal experience from a real world situation I had at an F-body shootout. These cars are very inconsistent from car to car. I went to an F-body shootout back in 03 and there was a huge difference in times. Almost every car had an intake and catback for mods but the times varied largely. My buddy ran a 12.88@108 with his 2000 A4, 3.23 geared car. His mods were lid, blowmaster muffler and removal of the spare tire and jack. Nobody with similar mods could touch his time. Most every body else ran 13.2-13.6@104-106.

As a side note my 2003 A4 2.73 geared vette with only a catback, intake and hptune ran a 12.78@111 with good weather.

hey man, it sounds like you have a healthy running LS4, I'd love to see what kind of times you could pull with an LS6 intake a few more bolt-ons.

Default the shorter the race the better

Dry NOS is the best mod out there, I beaten several cars that I know I didn't suppose to beat(vettes, lt1's, ls1's, ls'2, srt-8s, and more mustangs than I can count)and I believe the reason because we run the shorter race. Around this part of bama all we have is 1/8 mile tracks, so when we run on the streets all we run is the 1/8 mile. When it comes to the streets I'm not afraid of anything. A couple weeks I pretty much had my way with a G8 gt and it had exhaust, cai, and I believe he had a tune. I beat him 3 out of 4 and twice he red lighted and I still ran him down and passed him b4 the finish line. If weather is ok I plan on running my cousin in his 09 vette, call me crazy but I've seen the new vette run anywhere from 9.05 to 8.20s in the 1/8 mile around here at the track. So I know I got a chance and I will get the video.
