Engine
This question im about to ask may sound real dumb but can we get these LS4 engines stroked? I would love for my impala to have some crazy power added to it

Physically, it's the same block as other LSx engines so yes. It'd have to have a stroker crank (machined to fit) and rods. The topic was actually covered a while back. The real question is why. We are so traction limited it wouldn't be of any real benefit from anything but a a high 2nd gear roll. You'd have to build the transmission, and at that point you'd be better off going with some type of forced induction (from a price standpoint).

I've been thinking about this as well lately...
I don't think anyone makes a kit. On that fact, I don't think it would be very feasible. You may be able to modify a 6.0 lsx engine cheaper.
That said, with enough money, i'm sure it's possible. You would have to custom grind the crank and have pistons made with the pin raised further up on the skirt...
My opinion... take a loan and go for it...

im thinking about it looking into it more and seeing how much its gonna cost. it would be sweet if it could happen. i would love to have 500+ hp and some mean tq in a car that hardly looks aggressive

stroker kits are usually $3,000 assuming you want pistons. $1500-2000 without. Then machine work, pulling the engine, etc.

I researched this a lot. We can stroke our engine but it would require a custom crank, and pistons. To do it properly it would require about 8 grand. Which is not at all worth it. When laid next to each other, the ls4 and ls1 cranks are COMPLETELY different you CAN NOT machine down an lsx crank. You need to have a custom crank made.

Go turbo.

looks like i will go the turbo route. what about swapping the 5.3 for a heavily modified 350 cu in? my neighbor has a 88 camaro with lots ot work done to it and it just sits there. the last time it was on the road was back in 2003

Remember that you'll need to build your transmission, do all the turbo parts, then if you ever want to be able to use it you'll need much better suspension and tires. Don't get in over your head. That's a WHOLE lot of money for a low 12 second car to high 11s.
