Default Thinking about Trading in the GXP

Hey, I'm thinking about trading my 08 GP GXP for a 98 Camaro Z28 with 104,000km's for $13,900.

5.7L LS1 305HP
6 Speed Manual Transmission
all stock.

What do you guys think?

I owe about $22,000 on my car.

I'd stick with the GXP. Unless you can't live without more speed!

$13,900 is WAY too much for a '98 ,even with low mileage.

But, having owned a '99 Camaro SS and a 2000 Z28, I can tell you those cars are massive fun, surprisingly reliable, easily modded, and the 6-speeds get great mileage.

If you can get that price down a couple grand, I say DO IT!

Save your money and pay down your GXP if your going to do a trade. Or... better yet. Get a 5.0 Mustang or try to find a LS2 GTO. A 98 isn't worth it IMHO they had thin iron blocks, rod bearing problems and other issues. (still good cars though) Whats wrong with the GXP? I love my car. 50K and stock trans plus 0-60 in 5.0's.

Yeah, keep the GXP. Why be so upside down on a 13yr. old car? I say pay the GXP off then by something like that. By then a nice Camaro or Firebird will be less expensive.

I may do something like this after next year. I was thinking on an old 80's Monte SS and redo the whole car. Maybe a Gr. Natl... I'd absolutely love a GNX.

Iron blocks? What the **** are you talking about? a 98 Z28 has the LS1, an all aluminum motor.

i agree with the others i thought about doing this with my monte a few months back but for a 06 gto and its not worth it. as said your going to be upside down and its not worth it. talked to my dealer about it and he said i should hold out another year or 2 and then move into a a used 2ss camaro. something with 20k miles or so on it. keeps me in the same ballpark as my monte and keeps me moving into a newer car.

thread on the differences between the ls1 thru the years.

The bank might not go for it with a combination of your car being so upside down, and the proposed car so old.

And they never had rod bearing problems, either. The only issue the 98's had was they would sometimes run over-rich, which lead to an injector change in 1999.

All of the late 4th gens (98-02) are SOLID cars.

I might just keep the car, I'm on my vacation in Red Deer Alberta, theres just nice cars here, maybe I'm just pissed at the GXP because the check engine light came on yesterday.
but the car goes in tomorrow to get the CV shaft replaced and also my shift light went out.
I had fun killing a 08 dodge ram hemi
