Cool Question about slicks (Installed Pics Inside)

Ok, so I now have a set of MT slicks for my gp gxp, they are 26x11.5 17, they will be on 17x9 rims if that makes a difference.
My questions are,
what psi should I run in them as a geleral pressure? I know adjustment will be needed but want to know where to start, and rear tire pressure should be at the max?
Are race tubes necessary?
Also, is it benificial to race without a hood if I am able to?

Definitely run WITH your hood. You'll kill your aerodynamics without it. I lost 3-4mph when I ran my old Civic without a hood.

I haven't ran slicks since 2003, so I'm not quite sure what pressures to run 'em at. I'd start around 18 PSI or so and work your way down until you find the sweet spot.

alright, so run with my hood on but ill pull my headlight, ill start the psi at around 18psi and work it down and run with my rear tire pressure at max(44psi i believe it is for my tires).

What about race tubes? would they help me at all?

Maybe if you had a wrinkle wall slick lol

You don't need 'em.

MT recommend what... 20 or 25 psi?

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d4f8MMi73PQ

Be sure to heat them up better than I did...and don't launch on the floor...like I did.

I would, mine weren't balanced perfect - but weren't bad. It'd be a bitch to get a **** ton of steering wheel shimmey at 100+mph.

There are bias ply ET Streets, they are basically slicks with small grooves in them to make them street legal but you DO NOT want to get caught in the rain with these. ET Street radials are completely different stiffer sidewall and SLIGHTLY better in the rain.

I wouldn't use tubes if these are strictly for track days. The air will bleed out after a couple days but who cares? Tubes add weight and are an unnecessary expense IMO.
