Turbocharged DD GXP?
Hey guys was thinking bout throwing a small turbo on my wife's car. Its an 07 GXP with about 60k on I runs great but I just want that little extra. But like I said its my wife's car and she does about 80 miles a day round trip all highway. She doesn't race "much" but when she does she wants to win. So I was thinking that a small turbo with about 6lbs would be ok. What do you guys think. I still want to keep pretty much everything else stock for drive ability purposes. Is there a more reliable route to pursue. Or should I just leave it alone. Also what tuner do you guys recommend. Thanks
Ah hadn't even thought that far how much power are these tranys good for. Has anyone put an 80 in one (I am obiviosly not going to be doing this, good luck talking the old lady into that one, eh). Is that even possible, I know anythings possible with a big enough bank account, you know what I mean. There is a video on youtube of a guy putting down like 450 on the dyno, but I don't know what else he has done to the car.
The standard bolt on route may be a better route. My round trip is 104 miles. Im am working on exhaust, intake...
For better than the price of a turbo you can do full exhaust (doesn't have to be loud, just flow better), a cold air setup, an ls6 intake and a good tune... If you wanted more you could always get 1.8 rockers and a cam as well that will retain your DoD.

6 or even 8 psi on a stock trans is just fine. There are now dozens of people out there with cartuning turbo kits on stock transmissions for as many as 2 yrs without issue. The combination of the shift kit, a trans cooler, and the tune provided does a lot for the health and reliability for it. Drive ANY car like you stole it ALL the time and you will break it. I don't care how well built it is, anything can break in the right hands.

I concur on the ones who baby it having their trans ago..I'm at 57k with no problems as of yet. A couple weird shifts scared me but shes fine.
To the OP, if you're going to spend the dough on the turbo I would say do it right and do the trans along with it..or don't bother going past a tune/bolt ons. With just a catless downpipe and a cutout (no other mods) I put a 99/01 Cobra to shame yesterday. How much more do you need for a wife's 4 door DD? lol
