TAP Shift
Another stupid question lol... Is it better on our tranny to use TAP rather than normal automatic?

A lot guys use it to hold 2nd gear at the strip, since the stock tune short shifts 2nd.
I use it mostly to hold 1st or 2nd when going around corners or highway entrance ramps that I know that I'm going to accelerate out of. Saves the transmission from an extra hard shift, and I don't have to wait for it to happen (although my TEP transmission shifts really fast). I also use it going down steep hills to save my brakes.

Another thing to be cautious of is that it's backwards from logical use IMO. I would expect hitting the pad towards your body would be the upshift and hitting it away would be downshift... quite the opposite... I don't really use it because I find myself hitting it the wrong way, but as mentioned above, the car won't really let you do major harm to itself...
Wonder if there's a way to change that...

And to everyone else, thanks for the input

the only other advice i can give you is to just drive with it. it will not let you hurt the car (over revving)

If you try to downshift at too high of a speed, you will hear a chime from the DIC, alerting you that it won't downshift because you are going to fast for the gear you are trying to downshift into. As far as upshifting, as others have said, it will just bounce off the rev limiter if you don't upshift before about 5600 RPM.
Hope that helps.
