Default Help build my car!

I need some help, opinions, ideas, and input on my 2005 Grand Prix GXP 5.3 ls4 DOD. I want to do some decent modifcation to the car, not a ton but enough to gain some power and torque.

The obvious stuff going to be done is, Cold Air Intake, 180* tstat, and 3" downpipe w/ highflow cat and magnaflow catback.

I want some information on options for doing aftermarket Throttle Body, Headers, Injectors, and some basic stuff you would reccomend. Also really interested in doing a bit bigger Cam while maintaing my DOD, who makes a cam and what kind of power gain should I seem to get out of it?

I am very serious about doing some work here soon. Let me know what you would reccomend doing and what it takes to do some of the work. Recently bought the car and want to start getting some more power at the wheels.

If you would believe it or not....we are all just now getting to be able to tell you what you can do....next to the bolt on things.....that you mentioned...

our world just now as of about what? 5-6months ago saw headers for the first time for these cars since they came out in 2005!! LOL...

we have some that have done the reg stuff...pushrods, rockers, springs, intakes, throttle bodies, tstats as you mentioned....some have done cams...some have done heads and cam combos...some are in process...LOL...and some have used N2O with great results and some not so good...and some have boosted in front on T67's and some have boosted in the rear with T70's and spray (ME) LOL...

But, a lot of great guys on here!! if you wanna know anything about mods for this motor and wtf to do...YOU HIT THE RIGHT SPOT!! WELCOME...plz be prepared for frequent stops and headaches, with results ranging from nil to extreme, and be eady to be and outcast with a WRONG WHEEL DRIVE!! so..if your not scared...sit down, dont shut up; ask questions!! and take your seat on this ride we like to call, "LS4"!! LOL

its a lot of fun!!

was that too much guys?

Well, all I have to add is this:

Start with the basics and work your way up. Don't bite off more than you can chew, do your research, and don't forget the little things.

If you have any specific questions, feel free to ask. People here are a vast pool of knowledge waiting to be tapped.

The only thing we haven't seen is a cammed car run to it's full potential. But that shouldn't be too long.

I think a lot of that is the DoD system. But I think you're absolutely right, I would like to see a cam car really go.

Most people doing cam swaps don't retain DoD. The problem seems to be a lot of over camming.

I'd go catless on that downpipe

There isnt much of an aftermarket throttle bodys. If any thing we have been leaning to a port job, or using a larger one from GM.. Big deal is the restriction in our intake. the inlet is a D shape in order to make clearance for the DOD oil preasure sensor. Compared with the standard O shapped LSX intakes. Dont waste money on an after market MAF. and there was talk of using TB spacers for a while.
