does anyone know of any intake manifolds that have been designed for the 5.3L impala SS? and if so how much more power are the intakes providing?

There isn't an off the shelf intake upgrade for the LS4, but several have swapped in the LS6 intake. It takes a little work/fabrication to make it fit.

You can always send the stocker out to be ported by FaterProms. That's what I did and I like the results. On a stock car it is probably worth 10crank hp and on a modded one probably 15 crank hp. I am just guessing though, could be more...

There might be a lot of info but there is no one to help let keep looking and asking remember the squeaky wheel gets the grease.

Just like the headers keep after them

This is the best cost effective option. Of course a LS6 intake would yield better gains, but is looking to be 3x the cost, plus a lot more work.

The best would be the LS6 and the cheapest would be porting your stock. I bought a ported stock manifold from Fasterproms and it works great!

Some people will say no, but I have no complaints about mine. I'm happy with the ported one, but all I need is a tune.

I feel the same way. I'm happy with my fasterproms ported stock manifold.

the ported stocker will work fine if you don't plan on swapping your cam/ heads. The largest gains will be from getting an LS6 intake to fit, do a search on LS6 intake in this forum.

I have a FasterProms PI and like it too. There is a 13.0 second timeslip around here with one and it was an all N/A motor. Not too shabby...

With me doing almost everything myself, making a few decisions that cost me a little more money, and ending up with something that is functional if not pretty, I got out the door for around $600.

The biggest issue with porting is that it doesn't address the closing off of the throttle neck. Just eyeballing it, you lose about 1/3 of your throttle cross-sectional area. I would say that as you bump power, the LS6 (even the LS1) will really start to seperate itself from the ported LS4 manifold. There's no way my cam would keep pulling to 7000 (and beyond if I cared to try) with the stock intake, ported or not.
