why is autozone retarded? so for lack of shops here, i was searching the internet and saw that autozone has performance cams for the 2006 monte ss with the 5.3, obviously, but not for the impala ss with the same motor. so i go to the store to purchase one and the guy insists that it wont work on the impala, just the monte. am i retarded, or does this guy not kno what hes talking about?

They should be the same. Do some research a cam though, it'll take a lot to make sure you get the right cam for your application.

I feel ya. I came up in imports. I had a built turbo'd Civic in high school, that ran low 13's back in 2002 before any real tuning was available. My last car before the SS was a modded SE-R Spec V Sentra, that was a blast to drive, but was too small.
Don't forget everything that you'll need to accompany the cam. You'll need lifters, springs, you'll want to mill the heads to keep compression up so you'll need pushrods. To do a cam swap you'll have to drop the front subframe enough to get it out of the block, you'll need new headbolts. You'll want to look into an LS1/6 intake swap to really make any power with the new cam and headers wouldn't be a bad idea either. Then, after it's all done you'll need a dyno tune.
