Cam upgrade w/DOD
Looking to do a cam swap and I would like to keep the DOD. I have a source where I can get a OEM GM cam for cheap, I just gotta pick one.
Stock LS4 cam is:
INT:0.283"/0.289" lobe lift
EXH: 0.283"/0.289" lobe lift
LS2 cam:
INT: 0.306"
EXH: 0.305"
'02 LS6 cam:
INT: 0.324"
EXH: 0.322"
Can the DOD lifters handle either cam? Will either cam work with the stock LS4 timing chain?
We do a lot of truck motors. I can count on one hand how many vette motors I've done.

The 1.8's would offset the small loss of lift, and the extra duration would be nice. It's a lot of work to change the cam, but you wouldn't have to pull the heads and change the lifters. The Crane 1.8s are worth 18 WHP by themselves, and you could get another 10-20 WHP from the cam.
Personally, I came to the conclusion that I was just going to with the $750 cam package over the $700 rocker package and (just guessing) $50 used cam, and take the extra HP of the big cam. Obviously the cam is a little too big without some supporting mods (not that it isn't drivable or fun!), so the other package still looks really good and won't require spinning the engine as much.

I could give up DOD all together, but I like the extra MPG. I don't think its working well though because my buddy's 08 Impala SS is way faster (granted probably has the 3.29 gear and I don't) and he averages 19 ish MPG and I average 16.5 mpg with similar driving conditions.
