I think the trans is on its way out
I think the trans is on its way out Welp, when I bought the GXP 2 years ago with 30,000 miles on the clock I opted for a GMPP warranty because I knew that the trans was gonna take a ****. I am at 69,500 miles and did a pan drop and found some steel chnunks in the pan. Sweet. The trans had been shifting a little shitty on the 1-2 shift for the past few thousand miles and I brought the car right to the dealer when it happened. They told me nothing is wrong and everything is perfect with my transmission. Here is some pics of carnage.
I went to the dealer and talked to the service manager, showed him the pics and he even showed the techs and they agreed that it is the planet gears that are grinding up. They also claimed that is from abuse. They just want to replace the gear and what ever else is damaged and send me on my way but I do not think that is right and I believe that I need a overhaul because of metal through the trans. When I questioned the service manager about that he told me that "that is what the filter is for."
I feel like I am being fucked over.

Could be a lot of other things too. The bottom line is you are right. Done proper its a full rebuild time.

Just got my car back from the dealer. First one I brought it to F@cked me around bad and denied warranty. I towed it to another dealer they dropped the pan found metal chunks, further inspection found more issues. They replaced the transmission with a rebuilt one. There was also a cracked motor mount from what the statement said. It's all because of the notice GM sent to dealer about catastrophic failure in drive train components. It all comes down to the dealer and individual who looks at your vechile it took little over 2 weeks to get my car back.
Actually, the converter has most likely failed already.
Now the resulting debris is taking out your transmission. This is the same issue that has occurred over and over again in these cars, and is documented on our site in detail.
As LS4 DeltaV said you need to escalate this or find a new dealer. In my case, the dealer was totally cooperative and acknowledge the converter failure as the root-cause.
Your dealer can claim abuse, but they would need to be able to prove it, which is very difficult to do in an unmodded, properly-maintained car. If you're stuck with this dealer, I suggest you read up on the Magnuson-Moss Warranty act and maybe even discuss it with an attorney in your state that's knowledgeable about it. If the dealer doesn't cooperate, then threaten them legal action and follow-through, if need-be.
Our POS converters are to blame and GM knows it. I suspect that some esclation your part will solve the problem to your advantage.

I did lots of reading when the first dealer d!cked me around. It came down to there shop was lazy and didn't know what the hell to do. It was allot of work for the second dealer to do.

I brought the car in to a different dealer and they took the pan off and called me right away. The service guy said " well we took the pan off and found some nasty metal chunks so the trans is being removed right now to tear down and inspection in the morning."

GMPP said okay to go ahead with repairs and the dealer ordered parts today. The parts should be there on Monday and I should have my car back Wednesday.
