Type/ brand of motor oil used

My car is an oil eater on 5W30 - 2 quarts every oil change - always has / never stopped. OLM suggests 7,000 mile change intervals, so the oil gets refreshed every couple thousand miles.
10W30 slows it to 1 quart. I use Valvoline conventional due to the consumption - it's the only thing I dislike about the car, but $4 here and there it's hard to complain about.
I just keep a 4 quart jug in the garage for when the light comes on.

I'm running conventional now as well. USED to used Mobil-1 5W30 until I was burning 2 qts every 3000 miles. Switched to 5W30 regular Pennzoil YB (has some of the best oil analysis for dino) and poof, hardly any consumption at all, and the lifters are quiet again. This car for me hated Mobil-1 which is true for a lot of people I've found out. It's extremely thin compared to even other synthetics. I'm going to only run my dino for 4000 miles or so unlike my synthetic, but at 12 dollars a gallon at walmart who cares?

Royal purple 10w30 and a k and n oil filter for me. Pennzoil mite slow down oil consumption and smoking due to valve seals on some engines...but tear an engine down after running nothing but conventional pennzoil in it. Not pretty. I dunno about their synthetics tho. But I had a 305 sbc in my 87 when i bought it and what I just said happened with it. Thats why i have stayed away from pennzoil products.

About to change my oil for the 2nd time, using Castrol Syntec 5w-30. Car is a bit noisy when cold and in 5k miles I've had to add about 1/2 quart but overall, I'm happy with it.

I know it does seem like I've seen a lot of discussions on not only this site both others that I'm a member of. I'm truly surprised by how many people are using Pennzoil. I used to run Pennzoil 10W40 conventional in my '74 Firebird, but after seeing the oil pressure drop, then dropping the oil and watching it run out of that pan like water, I vowed never to again.
I'm currently running M1 5W-30, but don't care much for the lifter noise at start-up. I've put over 35,000 miles on my '02 Monte Carlo SS, and have been running Quaker State Q-Horsepower. Not lifter chatter, and no concerns when I've dropped the oil either. I'm considering going to that for my GXP too. We'll see...

I actually am right there with you on the Pennzoil thing...well, I was...but consider this: Ferarris actually come with Pennzoil Platinum from the factory now. I mean you just can't argue with Ferarri haha. That and my wife had a 99 Grand Am 3.4 that ran Pennzoil 5w-30 its whole life up until we sold it at 174k miles, never burned a drop of oil EVER. So I'm starting to consider the PZ Platinum oil, pending an oil analysis from this next oil change.
Read up on Bobistheoilguy.com and you'll see some amazing UOA's after even 8,000 miles running it.
