Default help???

So my dic is telling me to "service vehicle soon" no check engine light nothing. Today I drive it for about 45 mins and then went home for about 15-20 mins then had to run out again. When I started the car thats when it said that. Then I drove for about 10 mins then my temp gauge went to about half way and stayed there till I got to the store. I get back in and drive all the way home and temp gauge was staying at normal temp. The trans has been a little hesitant when I give it gas. But at the end of june early july I took it in to have the tranny checked for the same problem and they said it was fine it wasnt slipping or anything. When in tap shift sometimes when down shifting from 2 to 1 it studders if you know what I mean. Other than that the car drives/runs fine. Do any of you think they are related? Any help would be great. Oh yea jasper remaned trans was put in about 12-14k ago. If that helps.

Brandyn

If that doesn't show anything, get it scanned to see what codes could be set in the PCM. it is quite possible to have a code and no SES light.

My tapshift from 2nd to 1st doesn't always shift, but it's usually when I am going fairly slow. I believe it has something to do with the computer not wanting to shift at a certain speed, and is possibly quite normal. Seems to happen on occasion when going under 10 mph. It'll eventually shift to first, but it's usually abrupt and delayed, like just after I've stopped at a stop sign and am about to give it gas again, it'll downshift.

Don't know how valuable that info is to ya, but thought I'd share.

Maybe it's been discussed in this forum before, but I do know that I've read that with particular AFM engines, particularly in the trucks (I suppose more of those engines around than our LS4s) that there were complaints of excessive oil use/burn due to the AFM. I looked in my old bookmarks, and found a link describing this:

GM PIP4492J - Dec 2, 2009 - Excessive oil consumption and blue smoke states that overaggressive lifters may be at fault. AFM engines use special lifters unique to those engines so they can shut down the cylinders in V-4 mode.

I know I found a more substantial link, but can't find it at the moment.

Your car will come up with a low oil warning on the DIC when you're low.

I normally have to add a quart between oil changes. I usually just do it gradually every few months--another cup of new oil every so often.

When I first got the car, I didn't do this, and I got the low oil warning at about 40% oil life remaining I believe. Might have been as low as 30%...

If your oil isn't relatively butterscotch-colored, you need to get it changed. If it's black, change it as soon as possible.

i just think its odd that i have never had an oil burning issue before now. I had the oil changed today and it was the first time at this low of miles. normally its at or around 3500. I have read about them burning oil pretty quickly.

Depends how you drive. I rarely get any highway mileage and when I do get the opportunity to go fast, I usually accelerate pretty hard up to the speed limit.

How do you normally drive?

Isn't the SVS light, a bulb related issue?

Check all exterior lights to make sure they are working
